I should’ve known better than to back a Flat rat. Disgusted with myself. Decided to chase the loss by putting the two Mullins horses in a double like I should have done in the first place.
August 2, 2023 at 18:02 #1657958I’m scared not to have something on a cliff horse of mine, The Jam Man
at 50/1 6 places Skybet. I’ll be over the moon if he’s 6th, but very
likely not.August 2, 2023 at 18:39 #1657967Well a 40/1 shot won it, but The Jam Man once again headed over
the cliff, hooves reins and saddle.August 3, 2023 at 13:38 #1658092Thoughts for today
2.10 My old pal Brahma Bull’s brother Sir Argus tackles fences. I haven’t bet him but curious to see what happens
2.45 Heia is a fab little jumper, I fancy her to beat one or two of those ahead of her in the betting. I think Towend might be on the wrong one and she might give the fav a run. Will prob put a bit on her ew
3.20+3.55 flat nonsense
4.30 Horanztau d’Airy for the win and poss in ew double with Heia too
5.05 big race fingers crossed for Bialystok
5.40 flat meh
6.10 fav I suppose. No bet.August 3, 2023 at 14:43 #1658096The ones I like in the 2:45 are Heia and Tax For Max. I’ll back Heia for win and reverse her in a FC with Tax For Max.
August 4, 2023 at 08:39 #1658280No luck yesterday. Sir Argus looks a bit mental, keeping up the family tradition.
Today’s ew selections
5.00 Great Bear- due to connections and I’ve had half an eye on him since Norman Colfer 2nd to Burning Victory. Also Path d’Oroux after a break.
6.00 Arctic Ambition
7.10 Vadsa Queen
August 4, 2023 at 13:40 #1658350Greenasgrass you and me both!!
I didn’t realise that 1, flat horses have a poor record in the race. 2 dermot weld was the last winning flat trainer. 3 all the jocks were jumps jockeys 4, the weights were jumps weights. A seven pound claimer would made a difference. Winning jockey claimed to have rung the trainer on the day of the race to get the ride.
Hopefully my soul selections will make up for it……August 4, 2023 at 13:45 #1658353Never even watched a race from Galway this week.
5.00 Nibiru ew @ 33/1
A bit of a Jekyl and Hyde character this one, he was beaten before the first hurdle at Aintree and then planted himself at the start at Haydock so anything is possible.
That Betvictor do an offer where you get your money back if he does not set off or whips round at the start which is ideal.I would not touch him with a bargepole without that, aside from those problems it’s quite easy to make a decent case for him in this.
August 4, 2023 at 18:25 #1658428Work went a bit crazy (all the Friday afternoon specials- problems brewing all week, fix it now please) so missed both NH races today. Pants. Finished now and on way home. Aurora Princess in the next is the unfancied of the Mee/Emmett horses, so probably pointless betting as that stable wouldn’t let a good chance go off at 33s, but I was suckered into my usual little ew.
August 4, 2023 at 18:32 #1658431Brazil
Susiesparkle ew
Lisieux
Effernock FizzAugust 4, 2023 at 18:44 #1658433Super job Spoon.
My selection had a good draw and the jockey tried to make the most of it, elbows and feet flying coming out of the stalls…the mare was like nope, I’ll hack around the back thanks
He rode the race as best he could then got after her when the gaps started opening up coming into the straight, she was still all “mm not really, I’ve been up this hill once this week already, you may climb it yourself”. Good job I only had my pathetic 50p ew on.Got a bigger bet on Vadsa Queen ew, I like her a lot.
August 4, 2023 at 18:48 #1658434Thank you GAG, he just did enough
August 4, 2023 at 19:14 #1658439Ho hum. I’ll stop now instead of throwing more away. Still love her though
August 5, 2023 at 13:44 #16586441.55 Olympic Man was well thought of before his problens I think, and has gone well on heavy before. 10-1 is worth the ew
2.30 Power of Pause- not deserting him now, this is his big moment! I liked Digby, Foveros and Ambitious Fellow too, didn’t get around to backing them last night when their prices were good, and can’t bear to back them now the prices have gone. Probably token ew on Foveros as he’s my boy, but I’ll be a bit sickened if he wins at 12s when I could have had him at 40s.August 5, 2023 at 14:07 #1658651Winner did that well, ground is hard going. I added Hallowed Star ew in the next. Olympic Man missed a few hurdles slightly but finished well- I’ll bet him next time. He should qualify for a hurdles mark now…a few more spins round an inadequate trip to get the mark in the right place then the Martin Pipe???
August 5, 2023 at 14:37 #1658661Pants. I was meanly cheering for the runner up considering I didn’t back Ambitious Fellow.
August 5, 2023 at 14:54 #1658667Desert Wind at 50s ew 5 places is my only other selection today. He finished off his last race quite well on soft and there are bits and pieces in the pedigree to suggest he should manage the trip
