Must be very short odds now on Galileo to be champion sire (if there is such a bet). His first Derby winner (I know SOF won Irish last year), but unlikely to be his last.

Today’s race result – son of Galileo1st, full brother of Golan 2nd, harks back to 2001. First class Derby – both of them!

Between Galileo and Montjue it seems like Northern Dancer is cementing his place in horse history for all times.I didn’t think it could get any better. They are quickly separating Sadlers Wells from all other living sires. The Arabs have finally caught on. Buy them but don’t move them and you win a Derby at the first try.Not bad. Big bad Jim will be starting his own Coolmore before long. This New Approach is awesome.Better than Big Brown I wager.(just watched the Belmont).Did you see Cuis Ghaire win at Naas June2nd?Another Galileo superstar.

I’m as big a fan of ND as anyone (I once spent about 2 hours driving around Windfields Farm trying to find him) but as many of the top stallions are descended from him he can’t help but get the Derby winner most years.

One day another major force will come along with no ND in the tail-male line going back four or five generations but until that happens I think if anything his predominance is a bit too much.

When a major talent like Hawk Wing gets a big chance my hopes rise but he’s not yet hit the heights.
