What chance Moonstone going for the Leger if she wins tomorrow? Might make the 33’s look big.
Still 33/1 post-race with Bet 365 and Skybet, looks worth a dabble to me- reportedly goes for the Yorkshire Oaks next.
July 13, 2008 at 22:06 #173127O’Brien said in on-track post race interview that she might just have been coming to the end of her stamina over the Curragh 1m4f and that she may go for the Nassau next and possibly then York.
Very disappointed with Katiyra – she was the paddock pick to my eyes and looked like she might win turning for home but just flattened out like most of Oxx’s have been doing all year.
There was an animated (by their standards) conversation between Kinane and Pat Downes the Aga Khan’s racing manager in the parade ring before the next.
There was also a rumour doing the rounds today that Kinane was going to announce immediate retirement if Katiyra and Migmatite (whom he bred) won.July 13, 2008 at 22:39 #173128No he didn’t- he said the second was, and would go for a 10f race, while the winner went for the Yorkshire Oaks.
You can read his cmments on Sportnglife.com or the Post site.July 13, 2008 at 22:41 #173129Yes ……… apologies.
July 14, 2008 at 05:07 #173144Gagnoa doesn’t look like the most lionhearted of fillies does she?
July 14, 2008 at 10:53 #173168C O’Donoghue riding Ice Queen (IRE) was within a baw hair of a shock result. It’ll be interesting to see is he gets another ride.

Backing two runners is the relentless pursuit of value. Backing each way is a shortcut to the poor house. Only 7% make a long term profit.

Tonight at Longchamp.

Value Is EverythingJuly 14, 2008 at 12:59 #173189Yes – two days for careless riding.
July 14, 2008 at 14:48 #173208O’Donoghue has been riding long shots into the frame for Coolmore for three or four years now.Incidentally he had a treble at Dundalk on Saturday.
July 15, 2008 at 03:29 #173263If I am not mistaken three O’Brien fillies were given up to ensure a truly run Irish Oaks(Perihelion,Adored and the Ice Queen).Another (Honoria) remained on the outside of Moonstone to protect her from being boxed in. The winner got up on her stable mate(the Ice Queen) in the final stride. A wonderful effort.Must be a very good filly but only time will tell. The second took over from one out. Aiden said she will be brought back to a shorter distance next time. Think how good the second will be if asked for her effort at the mile post! Was last I believe in the English Oaks! A most truly run race. No place to hide for anyone. The second got first run and just failed.Oxx’s yard still not firing.
July 19, 2008 at 14:20 #173792Interesting to read Nick Mordin saying he reckons Gagnoa will be hard to beat if held up longer- I’m convinced she’s a hound myself.
