Is he more popular or is it just the “jockeys code of conduct” that Pat Cosgrave alluded to this week?
They don’t want to get involved and believe that all problems should be dealt with in the weighing room.
December 3, 2021 at 22:44 #1570474You do wonder if this could be the start of something a bit like the cricket situation has unravelled with more allegations coming out of the woodwork. Could it be that a lot of the jockeys who want it to be dealt with in-house and appear to be staying neutral on the matter may have a few skeletons in the closet themselves? Not suggesting there is anything as bad as is alleged about Dunne but one thing I didn’t agree with in this thread I saw a few posts back was that this sort of behaviour was unacceptable against women. The bullying and harassment side to the allegation is wrong period, it shouldn’t matter who it is against.
December 4, 2021 at 14:40 #1570616Big big reception for bryony here at sandown did itv highlight that?
It was without doubt very very heartfelt from the racegoers
Great stuff
December 4, 2021 at 14:56 #1570630They did clivexx, while not going over the top about it as I feared they might. Was lovely to see
December 4, 2021 at 14:57 #1570631Yes, it came across loud & clear on ITV Clive. Also the chap shouting “Stick it to Dunne”!
December 4, 2021 at 15:17 #1570641Oh to be a fly on the wall to have seen and heard Dunne’s reaction to that win.
December 4, 2021 at 15:19 #1570642Personally I thought that should have been Nicholls moment , 1 and 2 in a tingle and nothing outstanding just a competent ride , understand the crowd getting behind her though
December 4, 2021 at 15:30 #1570646By all accounts he is a tricky ride as he pulls hard and has a high head carriage but if you viewed it as ‘just a competent ride’ then that might be a bigger compliment in of itself as to how she made it look that way.
Nicholls 12th Tingle Creek would have been a bigger story too but with what is going on this week in racing the focus was always going to be on Bryony if she won.

What a shame.Value Is EverythingDecember 4, 2021 at 15:43 #1570653Robbie who???
Delighted for her. Five grade 1s…she makes the most of the chances given to her and more power to her
December 4, 2021 at 20:21 #1570713Hugely disappointing to see what appears to jockeys closing ranks over this matter and the idea of Frost being ostracised is disgusting and it sounds like there’s a lot of jockeys who should be utterly ashamed of themselves for not having the balls to be honest.
December 4, 2021 at 22:20 #1570726tbh It’s more difficult to speak out than it sometimes seems. Not that I am saying they should not have spoken out, just more difficult than it first seems.
Jockeys are not in a team sport but are still reliant on trainers and owners giving them rides; not wanting to make them enemies. With potential ill feeling coming their way too in the weighing room which could affect their own performance. Important part of the psychology of sport being mind games. Am sure every jockey’s been taught to keep the mind free of potential distractions. How not to allow anything to get to them.
Always absolutely hated the old adage of “don’t get involved with something that doesn’t concern you”. Often getting in trouble by defending others. An adage often used as an excuse not to do anything and in horse racing it sadly seems widespread. There are times when even people taught how to keep their minds free of distraction should still speak up.
Value Is EverythingDecember 5, 2021 at 01:27 #1570756After what bryony said re being ostracised it says it all that not one pundit or ex jockey have condemned this behaviour from the jockeys. Dunne has admitted screaming at her and dropping his towel in front of her. What else has he to do before someone says enough is enough. Looks like there is huge jealousy of bryony success. The casual racegoer must be appalled that’s the way they are treating a hugely popular figure as was shown at Sandown today. I hope this is a rafiq moment in racing and we bin this macho crap once and for all. Baatle hard but fair on the racecourse but after it’s finished its finished.Pathetic from dunne and all those who let dunne away with it for so long. Shame on Dale Gibson and the pja for trying to sweep it under the carpet. Absolutely staggering they wanted this dismissed. Talk about not seeing the wood for the trees.

It heartened me to see that the ITV racing presenters were obviously on Bryony’s side.
December 5, 2021 at 09:16 #1570766Good on Willie giving her a ride in the John Durkan, he surely would have had plenty of home jockeys to use. Hopefully one in the eye for dinner, whatever the result.
December 5, 2021 at 09:17 #1570767That should read Dunne and not dinner!!!
December 5, 2021 at 10:02 #1570774Imagine being such a clown that you stopped speaking to someone just because they broke some stupid imaginary heathen code of ‘Omerta’ in the dressing room. Tom Scu, grow up.
