July 14, 2006 at 12:10 #663164:05 Lingfield<br>A fairly weak looking claimer, featuring a right hotch-potch of contestants.
Generally in the UK it is quite unusual to enter an older debutant in a claimer and it is normally not a good sign so I can’t have Dixieland Boy for starters.
Musical Chimes seems very poor, so that is also ruled out.
All of the remainder have to be considered. Surely Truly seems regressive and isn’t proven over the trip, Piano Player has a good record here but hasn’t yet run very fast, and Participation would appear to need further and threw in a real stinker two runs back. This trio all have chances but none are solid. Meanwhile, at what will probably be a much bigger price, there is a lurker at the bottom of the field.
Mon Petite Amour has a lowly rating but has been in reasonable and reasonably consistent form recently, and acts well on this surface. She has seemed best at 6f-7f so far but has hinted at being worth a try at a mile a couple of times and the polytrack at Lingfield is hardly a stiff eight.
Yes, she has a bit to find based on official ratings, but by no means a mountain (only a few pounds wrong with Spotlight selection Piano Player), and the lack of obvious early pace in the race (Participation to try and win from the front maybe?) might just play into her hands…
MON PETITE AMOUR – £3 e/w
