Going stick report this morning is Good to Soft with a dry day forecast.

Should be a boost to Ghostwriters chances hopefully. He’s the last leg of a treble for me.

Ghostwriter looks to have an excellent chance of franking the guineas form again

He did well to finish as close as he did given he fluffed the start

I was impressed with Diego in the French Guineas but agree that Ghostwriter is the pick today

Will stick with my Ghostwriter 16-1 ew pick, not going to add any more. Hopefully he breaks ok this time and does the business.

    Diego out to 4/1 :-(
Liked the way he glided through the rain softened ground at Longchamps. Hoping he saves my shillings, handles the holding turf (it’s not November holding) and defies his poor draw.

    Show ‘em your socks, Diego!

I would wonder if Ghostwriter may be at the limit of his stamina over this distance on “sticky” ground – first time in some 50 years say Paris Turf. If I hadn’t my sentimental attachment I would think the winner may be more likely to come from Look de Vega, Alcantor and Sosie.

I always thought Diego Velasquez was pretty average but thought Ghostwriter was better than that.
He had every chance there but nowhere near good enough.

The winner looks pretty good though.

I wouldn’t be put off any of them in that ground. I had to share the climax of that race on a portable size tv screen with the Sheffield dogs

    Zilzal,

Don’t trust the French going reports. Turftrax tested it this morning and it was Good to Soft with a dry day forecast.

Connections of Ghostwriter will tell us what happened soon enough.

    Nathan,

The Jockey was already squeezing him before the home straight. He got boxed in because there were no more gears available.

Doubt he’d have won had he got a clear run but he’d have likely finished 2nd or 3rd

Just looked like he wanted a step up to 1m4f

Perhaps royal ascot or the grand prix de Paris next

Thanks HM23, Ill check out Turftrax next time. Whatever the ground was didn’t look like any of them were really let down this afternoon.

Hayley ‘bore’ Moore says Eclipse should be next for the winner. No chance.

Ghostwriter? 10f is far as he wants to go. Maybe they’ll go back to a mile or stick to 10f hoping for proper nice ground in the future. He’s not bred for 12f really.
