    Well some mixed luck today…

Probably the best thing was to see ‘Marchand’ strutting his stuff again! :D

It was good that ‘Makfi’s’ form was almost given a boost…maybe not such a bad race at Newmarket afterall!

I’d like to see ‘the best horse in the race’ actually win by some distance next time!
‘Baine’ looked unlucky and the winner ‘Lili’ bumped one a long way out…
That’s the way it goes! :o

I think that it might be too early to take one alone out of the Hen Test…

For me the best performance in either Guineas today was by ‘Lope De Vega’ coming from the draw that he did.
I had kinda given up on him due to position out in the wilderness…had he of had a better draw what price would he have been?
Twice now ‘Siyouni’ has started much shorter than ‘Lope’ and there’s not been much between them!
    Thanks Andre!

Today we see why Fabre had a change of jocks – even when they are in the Abdulla colours…
It’s a pity those colts were moved to the UK – as I’d back his ‘next generation jocks’ to out do some of these old hands given the ammo!

I was quite surprised that Tom Segal put up ‘Zazou’ for todays race…
given that this was written in the post after his win earlier this year:

    Report: Germany, Sunday

Krefeld: Grosser Preis Der Krefelder Wirtschaft Dr Busch Memorial (Group 3) 1m 110y, 3yo – 25 APR 2010

ZAZOU and Kite Hunter gave their trainer Mario Hofer a one-two in theGroup 3 Classic trial at Krefeld on Sunday.

Hofer said: "I expected Zazou to win. He’s my best three-year-old. He will probably run next in the Poule d’Essai des Poulains (at Longchamp on May 16).

It is a real shame that ‘Royal’ didn’t make the line up considering his form with poor ol’ ‘Mubtassim’ :?
He beat him by 3 1/4 (getting quite a bit of weight) whilst ‘Lope beat him 2 1/2 off levels…

What to make of ‘Joanna’s effort? Seemed to have the run of the race only to falter…
Remember when Souy said this after the Imprudence?

    S

Whatever happen to that Torpedo coming over from Britain?! Scud more like!

Not a massive Barzolona fan to be honest but Godolphin are missing a massive trick if they don’t get Guyon tied down to a proper contract somepoint in the near future – he won’t stay with Fabre forever, not least when he’s effectively doing all the homework on the likes of Cavalryman, Cutlass Bay, Simon and Anna and not getting the glory.

There’s only so many Guineas winners in the Fabre yard that aren’t with Godolphin.

Rate Anthony Crastus very very highly too – him and Guyon are the best of the young flat jockeys.

Been impressed with Jeremy Da Silva, Nathalie Dessoutter and Davy Cottin will break all French jumps records around if he rides as long as Pieux is likely to.

As it says on the Dollar Bill – ‘In God We Trust’!

If Andre trusts ‘Bara’ then he’s ok by me…it wasn’t so long ago that he was claiming 6 – he did so on ‘Si’ last Oct I think?!…the lads still learning!
Agree I like Crastus as another – but ‘white’ gloves’ still shows ’em all a trick or two!

As for ‘Lope’ he’s been underrated & overlooked…there were reasons for doing so I guess as Zar has said elsewhere ‘Siyouni’ has beat him twice but on one occasion there was an excuse for that!

I forgot to post this some time back… :P

Lope de Vega at the start of the Prix de Fontainebleau?

21/04/2010 – | It would make his return Sunday, April 25

Lope de Vega, colt who impressed in his two years of age, despite his fourth place at the Grand Criterium

He was a length ahead of ‘Dick Turpin’ that day last Oct – form is stacking… :D

Evading Tempete rates a decent chance in the Coronation if she goes – 2nd in the Imprudence and an Italian Guineas winner, the 3yo fillies don’t look amazing at a mile this year (at least in the UK) with Music Show running on the wrong part of the track in the Guineas.

Is a better chance on good ground – true she had race fitness that day at Deau but disliked the going as much as the other two…

Plenty to take from yesterday with regards the Diane… 8)

Yeah Zen – very much so, Deluxe still in there too. As always will probably look for some value (Wajir at 66’s in the Jockey Club and Becqu Adoree 5th at 200’s in the Vermeille were my best of last year, at 200/1 though i got another 199 chances  ).

Excited for both that and the Sunday after

Yes he does Kop – anything from that yard!…another nice winner today!

Irish – I thought that you would have been more excited about the Monday?! Or – D- Day! :D

Not into the jumpers – it’s all about ‘Remember Rose’ now or so they are saying – don’t know if you read this?!

Grand Steeple-Chase de Paris: Mail Bievre waives

He will be out, Group I

Mail Bievre ignores the Grand Steeplechase de Paris in 2010. Jehan Bertran de Balanda and its owner decided to maintain their champion and not to align the start of the most challenging obstacle course French. A décicion thoughtful and wise. Remember Rose becomes the overwhelming favorite in the Group I.

The decision is taken. Mail Bievre not participate in the Grand Steeplechase de Paris 2010, May 30 at Auteuil. At 5 years, the son of Cadoudal was considered too soft by his entourage to challenge seniors in Group I. "Mr Atkinson, a part owner came in Maisons-Laffitte and we discussed the Grand Steeplechase . By mutual agreement, we have chosen to ignore. Bievre Mail was only 5 years and this fight could have left marks on his body. "entrusted Jehan Bertran de Balanda in Paris Turf.

Yet the preparation of the champion had passed without a hitch. Third in the Prix Robert de Clermont-Tonnerre in March, then won twice in the Troytown Price and Murat, he appeared to be a great asset to the Grand Steeplechase Paris. Inexperience and youth have weighed in the balance. The coach and the owner made the choice of wisdom. The health of the horse has prevailed over the financial aspect.

A decision that puts Remember Rose in the skin of the major favorite and "relieve" Christopher Pile. The jockey will not have to choose between the two champions. The man with 15 gold mount the Whips resident Jean-Paul Gallorini. The son of an insatiable will try to win again this Group I. As for Mail Bievre, they should employ in the Prix des Drags at Auteuil. A comforting until the Grand Steeplechase 2011.

Some news for the ‘Bleksters’… :D

    Blek’s sister succeeded her debut

    At Maisons-Laffitte

Ambeau Roche, sister of the very good stayer Blek, succeeded in winning debut, May 17 at the Hippodrome de Maisons-Laffitte. The daughter of Chichicastenango is trained by Elie Lellouche.

Tom Segal on ‘Simon De Monfort’:

Godolphin have a big Derby Shot – but he’s not even entered yet!

I just can’t believe Sheikh Mohammed would switch yards if the plan was for ‘Simon De Montfort’ to run in the French Derby. That would be nonsensical when he would have stayed with Andre Fabre.

I also have no doubt the Sheikh will want his new trainer to be represented at Epsom and I think it entirely possible that ‘Simon De Montfort’ will be supplemented, unless ‘Chabal’ is wildly impressive in the Dante on Thursday.

‘Simon De Montfort’ is out of a Park Hill winner so there has to be every chance he will stay the trip despite being a full brother to the good miler ‘Notability’, and in a year where nothing stands out at the moment he is a horse to keep a close eye on.

Of course there are no prices about him yet, but if he was to be given the go-ahead I would expect him to be right near the head of the market.

Don’t forget the French won the two Guineas with their only runners, so there has to be a very good chance the balance of power in the thoroughbred ranks is across the English Channel.

With recent events i.e ‘Chabal’ fluffing his lines….
and now ‘Rewilding’ being entered for the ‘Cocked Hat’ at Goodwood.
I should think that Mr Segal is as bemused as I – at the methods/plans of team Godolphin?!

Why was ‘Rewilding’ not give the traditional Derby prep in the Prix Greffulhe (as a safeguard should ‘Chabal’ flop?) and then brought to Epsom – a la ‘Visindar’ style?! – Thus spacing his races perfectly?!

As stated in the piece by Tom why would they also transfer their Jockey Club ‘hope’ if a ‘no show’ at Epsom was on the cards?!
Is ‘Air Trooper’ really ready for such a test on the back of a maiden?!
Surely they won’t be putting all of their eggs into the one Epsom basket? :|
If they get this wrong – I hope they don’t…then the ‘Cocked Hat’ won’t be the only thing ‘Cocked’ this year by the ‘Boys in Blue’!

Tom S is working on the assumption that logic and Godolphin go hand in hand.

Yeah it’s always all about Rose – takes 3 or 4 runs to get him fit and he targets two races a year with the horse. Hoping that Bluesq price it up again – was very good last year with Rose not even favourite :)

Good on them not rushing Mail De Bievre – time on his side and will be better off running over 2m 5f on Champion Hurdle day :)

Looking forward to seeing Blek and a bit worried about Bannaby :(

Haven’t been following all this. Why are you worried about Bannaby?
