Whens the last time a colt finishing last or 2nd last at HQ subsequently won a Group 1? It doesn’t happen. And it won’t this season.
And they weren’t “Group 1 horses”.

May 17, 2021 at 15:10 #1541354TTC, what were they then? Lol.
That’s a very specific question, how many of Aidan O’Brien’s have finished that close to last especially when having shown form with the first and second?
You obviously don’t forgive a run, and that’s fair enough, but in my opinion, it’s pretty daft to just rule them out after 1 run.
Also, horses finishing near last in the Guineas have won group 1s afterwards.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!May 17, 2021 at 15:22 #1541358Didn’t roderick,Misty for me and yesterday finish down the field in the Guineas only to go on and win in Ireland? Anyone else you would say no, but you see time and time again with AOB horses how they take great strides forward from a first run.
May 17, 2021 at 16:21 #1541366Not a colt but this was quite a turnaround from one who finished stone last at Newmarket quite recently.

May 18, 2021 at 01:57 #1541402Wembley and Battleground haven’t won a Group 1. Suppose one of them might oblige in a Coolmore benefit like next seasons Tatts GC, I doubt it though.

May 18, 2021 at 10:09 #1541414They were running close in G1s as 2yos if that doesn’t make them G1 level 2yos then i don’t know what does.
Either way, the point still stands and so far you haven’t really done anything to convince me otherwise.

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!May 18, 2021 at 11:15 #1541421I am wondering if Wembley prefers a bit easier ground. Up until the 2000 guineas he had run on good or softer. Collectively, his mum and ‘brothers and sisters’ never won a race with firm in the going description. He may turn out to be not top level after all, but if he were to show up at the Curragh on what looks like easier ground it would be interesting to see if he was able to put on a good show.
May 18, 2021 at 12:00 #1541428(trainer said that the colt did not handle the downhill aspect of the track on the good to firm ground on this occasion; vet reported that a post-race examination of the colt failed to reveal any abnormalities).

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!May 18, 2021 at 12:04 #1541430Could well do Mike or he has not trained on or something. Never backed him before so not clutching at straws but the stewards must have asked for an explanation from a few of them and AOB said of Wembley ” (trainer said that the colt did not handle the downhill aspect of the track on the good to firm ground on this occasion; vet reported that a post-race examination of the colt failed to reveal any abnormalities)
A few of them never looked too comfortable but then again maybe they just were not good enough, time will tell i suppose.
