Do the gates open later in the day for free access like they used to, or does it depend on the track?
May 2, 2022 at 18:03 #1596724An interesting question but alas I do not know the answer.
Going back about 40 years, I can often remember going into Aintree on the Saturday to watch the races after the Grand National.

A bloke we know as Blakey after on the buses (just like him) travelled down to beckenham to see surrey at Kent He expected to get in free after tea as at the oval and he was told £20 full day price. He threw a total flounce and whilst they would probably let him in for a fiver perhaps if he had been nice I can see the gateman crossing his arms now as he squealed like a stuck pig
Stormed off down to weatherpsoons (this is true) to moan until closing time
May 2, 2022 at 18:28 #1596732I fear something from the past. They used to open the gates just after half time at the football and they used to pile in. Not that I availed myself of it, had a season ticket. Not allowed now though, can’t even go where you want in the ground these days
