I googled Monkerty Tunkerty for the origin of the name and it seems there is definite growing confidence for this beast on the forums.

Is he improving quickly enough? I have no idea, but I’ll be risking my wager on him. ‘Bout time a horse with a stupid name won at Chelters.

Mullins says Boxer Georg will go for the Foxhunters in his stable guide with RPTV. 20/1 – will surely be shorter on the day.

Barbers Shop looked decent yesterday running over an extended trip, course form, finishing second in a Ryanair behind Imperial Commander, 16/1.

    Both added to the portfolio.

Can’t see Barbers being good enough to win based on yesterdays struggle.
Dont recall him coming 2nd in a Ryanair, thought it was the jewson behind that one in the Kicking King colours ridden by Geraghty?

Barbers came second a decade ago against the imp in the paddy power.

10 year olds dropping into the hunt from rules background have an appalling record. Id avoid.

Does anyone know if Herons Well is a runner this year? Don’t see him on many bookies lists.
Was in the process of running a big race until unseating, quite some way from home I know, but who’s to say wouldn’t have been in the frame. What with Baby Run and Zemsky out, would think it’s a cracking each way bet if it turns up.

Boxer georg does look a big price at 20/1, second to Baby Run at Aintree last year reads well.

Exeter Cheltenham Preview Night, Nicholls put up Chapoturgeon as his charity bet.

Chapoturgeon hasn’t qualified for the race yet and is running out of time especially for a horse that needs time between races.

Re Barber’s Shop, I’d be amazed if he confirmed Sunday’s for with Merry Vic next time they meet.

My main concern over Monkerty Tunkerty would be the jockey’s lack of experience

Don’t fancy Boxer Georg, he’s not got the profile of a Foxhunters winner.

Sorry to be so negative but I’ve always found the art to picking the winner of this race was in those omitted.

Amongst those still not omitted and I’m pretty sure the winner will be amongst these……………

BRADLEY Tough as teak, will be well suited by trip and likely pace, missed last season with sore shins, ground likely to be perfect, course winner, nothing will come up the hill better, I’d be confident in him to reverse latest form with Monkerty Tunkerty over this trip, I’m leaning towards him as my first choice right now especially if the next one (MR) goes for the four miler.
MERCHANT ROYAL May be headed for the National Hunt Chase. Top jockey on board if he runs Outstanding prospect
ON THE FRINGE Let me down big time last year, would benefit from the handling of Nina Carberry rather than JT, can’t forget the way he won on his debut in The Punchestown Hunter Championship after losing the best part of a furlong due to interference at the first fence.
SALSIFY Well up to winning at his best but not 100% consistent
MY FLORA Something to prove after latest rules run, prior to that she looked as if The Foxhunters would be the stepping stone to greater things
BITTER BLUE Very useful hunter from a top yard
BLACKSTAFF Promising pointer, better than his last outing, lost all chance at the first fence, did well to finish second Jockey lacks experience Lot to do strictly on form but odds are generous, good EW value
CORK ALL STAR One of my favourite Hunter Chasers but small athletic type who may find these fences too big for him
OVER THE PHONE Prior to this season had looked the real deal, will need to show last years form to have any chance

There are a few more pointers that aren’t showing in the betting yet but might well be entered they’d include Merry Vic, Zardsky and Gold Ducat

Chapoturgeon is qualified, CS. He won a point a week or two ago. Also won a hunters’ chase. That’s the two wins. :)

Even so, I don’t think he’ll have a hope of staying and will test his young rider’s balance in the saddle at least once along the way too.

There are two races this afternoon that could have an impression on the betting for the Foxhunters.

In Ireland at Gowran Park there’s a very competitive race, the result of which will probably see some shortening of certain horses

If Gold Ducat or Mountain Lough win expect Zardsky and Boxer Georg to shorten

If Viking Splash wins Salsify, Merchant Royal and On The Fringe may shorten

If Agus A Vic wins expect Zardsky to shorten (considerably)

Five minutes later at Sandown Aldertune runs, If he wins there won’t be any 33/1 left about Bradley

I’ve had £200 EW BRADLEY @ 33/1 now, just incase. He won’t be longer on the day regardless of Aldertune as he’s a horse that’s usually gambled on

CS, do you mind me asking what it is about Bradley’s form that you like so much? He was well beaten two runs ago before wining by a narrow margin last time in receipt of weight. You’re the expert on this type of race and perhaps I’m missing something?

You need to watch his course and distance win at Cheltehmam 2010 before he got narrowly beat at Stratford in The John Corbett Cup (The Hunters King George) due to sore shins (Too fast ground)
He missed a whole year and has been brought along nicely with this race in mind.
The distance is probably his minimum trip but he’s proven he likes a stiff uphill finish and nothing will pass him after the climb starts but he’ll pass a few, of that I’m certain
Fergal O’Brien is quoted as saying he’s very tough so he’ll cope with the big field.
My only worry is the flat spot he always hits in his races (Big Bucks style) doesn’t cost him too much ground

I’m afraid of Merchant Royal but like Askanna (had she run) Bradley’s price is far too big, 10/1, 12/1 is probably closer to a realistic price

I see a future Eider Chase, Whiubread Gold Cup or Welsh Grand National winner when I watch him race

I’d hesitate to describe the John Corbett as the hunter’s King George as it is the novices race; not the old Horse & Hound whatever it’s called nowadays!

Bradley was very promising a couple of years ago and I agree that 33-1 is generous. I think provided he acts on the course Salsify may be the one to beat.

" Outstanding chance " followed by a joke about Ruby

Great trainer but a bloody bore.

You are correct, my error. Can we call it The Hunter’s RSA ? :D

Aldertune didn’t do the Bradley form any harm this afternoon but Mr Goodenough paid a huge compliment to MERCHANT ROYAL at Gowran Park (Just had £100 EW "saver" @ 16/1) before the odds shrink.

It always is about the big ex-NH guns before the race. But history has shown they don’t always deliver in what is a proper staying contest that is usually run at a helter skelter pace.

For what it’s worth I don’t give Chapoturgeon a prayer in this. He won’t stay. If Cloudy Lane retains the ability of a 135 horse he may have a chance but I’d be looking at some of the genuine up and coming hunters such as Bradley, My Flora, Salsify and On the Fringe.
