The elimination list has been published and Cappa Bleu is not on it, so he’s guaranteed a run.
Great news, what I saw of him at Horseheath made a big impression and better judges than me noted him and no doubt put their money where their mouths were (I don’t bet).
March 13, 2009 at 02:04 #215857Just a warning to those looking at the form in the papers. Remember that several of the horses appear to be having their first run of the season when wuite the reverse is true. They have been running in point to points. For instance Amiceli actually fell last time out at Broclesby park. Kingscliffe has run in points winning and losing. Cappa Bleu has run in points in Ireland and is unbeaten in two runs at Horseheath (where I saw him) and Chaddesly Corbett.
The Weatherby’s point to point site and the excellent Jumping For Fun site (a free site which some of us are on which gives loads of good information but does not take itself too seriously) will give some information.
March 13, 2009 at 02:14 #215861Does anybody know any information about Cappa Bleu? My sister-in-law works for William Hill and has been telling me there has been a continued support for this horse for the Foxhunters. Ive looked on oddschecker and he has now replaced juveignuer as favourite. Anybody have an oppinion?
yea sheila crow the trainer is close to us the horse is in tip top form n been hghly tuned for this race apparently the woman knows her stuff, and with burton on board ide say job done….
March 13, 2009 at 02:37 #215874Has he only ran in points or has he ran [run?] under rules?

I’ve backed Robbers Glen at 33/1 but don’t mind admitting that the Foxhunters’ is almost a pin-sticking race for me.
March 13, 2009 at 04:41 #215916Looking at You Do The Math, Baby Run and Border Fusion having realized that Murphys Cardinal [who I’ve backed] is 13 years old. Cappa Bleu doesn’t seem to have enough experience to win it.
March 13, 2009 at 05:03 #215921With no fewer than 16 of the 24 runners having won last time out this looks like a punters graveyard. I presume most of these winds were at some point to point as I haven’t heard of 1/5th of the field.
The Foxhunters used to be easier than this

One that jumped out at me was Limerick Boy trainer Miss V Williams
1st two yeaterday won both it’s races on regular racecourses.
Like to have an interest so I am going for him with no idea how he compares to the rest of the field I I
March 13, 2009 at 18:56 #216052Juveigner to win in the Foxhunters as he is with a decent yard and looks to have been laid out and has good Cheltenham experience
Offael D’airy EW at 25s, only a 7yo and can improve in this sphere plus he won a Hunter Chase at Warwick which has been used by lots of good hunters as a prep race over the years.
March 13, 2009 at 19:01 #216054Have had a go on Chief Oscar in this because I saw him win at downpatrick on Ulster National day, and he’s trained by a distant relative. Probably outclassed but Im hopeful the step up in trip on this ground will suit.
March 13, 2009 at 20:37 #216098Surely Cappa Bleu will be snapped up by someone to run under rules; he is some horse.

According to news on the Jumping For Fun site, he is going to Evan Williams. I rather suspect that they may just get an offer they cannot refuse during the summer
Brilliant performance from a horse first time out over regulation fences. Great ride from the wily Richard Burton, best amateur arount and compliments to young riders on the second and third, Charlotte Tizzard and Sam Twiston-Davies who did nothing wrong, just up against a brilliant horse and a very top class horseman. You were warned about him.
Sam, incidentally, is a product of the pony racing scene as is Rhys Flint and Felix De Giles. These races are really doing what they were designed to, produce young riders for the future and give tghem great fun to boot. I thing I am right in saying that Nick Scholfield came from the same background.
March 14, 2009 at 01:24 #216168When I went to the bookies to put my money on I got talking [as you do] to a chap who saw Sam TD on Irish Raptor yesterday and said his riding was dreadful; I thought my money was lost today, but he gave his horse a superb ride…..[my logic being that his dad wouldn’t put him up on a horse that couldn’t jump]…certainly looking forward to seeing Cappa Bleu again; must thank people on the forum because up until now I’ve watched these races in complete ignorance, but a little bit of knowledge makes such a difference…roll on Aintree and Ballycassidy! you know you can do it…..

Id like to think that justice will prevail and Ballycassidy wins the foxhunters ,my money will be on but that last time he ran there in the Becher i got the impression he was sick and tired of the place.
Hope springs though eh?
