I’d take a very different view to some on here, particularly the bubble burst comment about Burning Ambition. I backed him for the Foxhuners after the race at 6/1, I thought it was a super run. For me, that puts him well ahead of anything else we’ve seen for this, including Foxrock. He’s also the young improver here, only a seven year old, and his weekend effort was only his second every run on the track. The ground is an unknown, but I think he has the potential to be far too good for the rest here.
Foxrock’s Cheltenham record would be a concern for me. I know this is a lower level than a Ryanair or National Hunt Chase, but it’s a worry nonetheless.
February 15, 2018 at 01:42 #1342301Funny how people see things differently isn’t it.
Unlike LostSoldier, I see absolutely no reason why Foxrock will finish in front of Burning Ambition. Ok I’m perhaps bias to my horse (he’s my biggest single bet of the festival at this stage) but he will run better when getting us ground, finished much closer to Gilgamboa than Foxrock did and is on the upgrade rather than most who are coming towards the end of their careers.
February 28, 2018 at 15:02 #1344339Very interesting entry not sure if he is trained now by Colin McBratney or Willie Mullins but Felix Yonger is entered, having won 2 point to points since running in the 2016 champion chase.
March 1, 2018 at 10:43 #1344403TWM, i was speaking with his nephew the other day….i am arranging his nephews stag, and Colin can’t go this weekend, as taking 2 or 3 including Felix for work…obviously now weather might scupper that.
Very happy with him and actually surprised how well hes working. They are happy to go straight there without a run, as his work has picked up so much.
Haven’t asked him yet about comparisons with Marito yet….Worry for me is hes a 2miler IMO regardless of p2p wins..

Hindsight is 20/20 so make the most of it!March 8, 2018 at 19:30 #1345321With ITCF, Cracking Smart and Hollowgraphic all missing the race, it’s been a bad fortnight for me. Had nice prices on all of them.
I really fear BA will have a setback now. He’s short in the market and that 10s looks good but his absence would cap off a bad couple of weeks.
Anyway.. who do you all fancy now we know Morning Assembly won’t run and Gilgamboa can’t. Wonderful Charm looks the biggest danger to my horse imo
March 8, 2018 at 20:09 #1345323Is Morning Assembly still in the National [she askes hopefully?]…
March 8, 2018 at 23:06 #1345363He’s currently entered in the Kim muir and the national
March 15, 2018 at 22:55 #1346882The least interesting race for me at the festival. Only a small bet at Young Hurricane at 40/1 EW.
March 15, 2018 at 23:00 #1346884Minellaforvalue 5th last year, in top class for on the point to point scene this year
March 16, 2018 at 00:17 #1346925I was gonna go for Foxrock until I read Kev’s post. Grand Vision just has to replicate Class 3 handicap form to win. Tizzard could do the Gold Cup/Foxhunter double!
March 16, 2018 at 00:22 #1346926Nicholls seems really good at getting them ready for this, and he mentions that Wonderful Charm is his best bet for The Festival, so that’ll do for me………..I’ll go for Pacha Du Polder around 18’s, and maybe even consider Virak or Unioniste as well. PDP was a very fair winner last time, and should have won two years back, so with Festival Form confirmed, and him looking like he (badly) needed the run last time, that price just looks too big.
Pacha Du Polder 18’s
March 16, 2018 at 16:11 #1347088I dislike amateur races and don’t bet on them, however I’m disappointed that I didn’t back Unioniste when I saw him at 28-1 the other day. 12-1 now I note.
March 16, 2018 at 16:12 #1347089Unioniste and Wonderful Charm for me.
March 16, 2018 at 20:56 #1347170Another nice one, Bobby, well done. I thought, he’s put a stable lass on PDP it has no chance – mind you she was only able to render about as much assistance as Victoria Pendleton lol.
March 16, 2018 at 21:02 #1347174Well done, Bobby. How did thing finish for you overall? In profit, I hope?
March 16, 2018 at 21:40 #1347187Paul Nicholls told the world Wonderful Charm was his best chance this week. Perhaps he was thinking Harriet Tucker was just a passenger. Luckily the horse knew the job and Paul’s banker was pulled up. Don’t give up the day job Mr Nicholls.
The stable finished on a high after a nothing sort of week and no real contenders in the big races. With Hobbs and King not having much to talk about it’s little wonder the Irish carved the Brits up. At least Tizzard and Henderson had a meeting to remember and Nicky nearly landed the Trifecta.
Maybe this will get like the Ryder Cup and we will have to force either Mullins or Elliott across here to boost the home team.
Well done finding that one Bobby.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
March 17, 2018 at 00:17 #1347236Cheers Steve and Chris, can’t believe he went off at 25’s, unreal. Steve, that line about Wonderful Charm was enough for me to go in a bit more. Chris, I had Pendleton to win at 66’s, and I still maintain she should have pissed it lol
Cheers Joe, really decent week for me, I couldn’t get near the dizzy heights of last year, but managed to beat my 2016 tally, and I would have snapped your hand off beforehand if you had offered me that. It was the usual highs and lows. A year too late with Native River, and it was another Don Cossack for me, but take some consolation in that I called him early doors, and confirmed what I always said, that he clearly wasn’t right, and would have won last year if sound. A proper horse, love him to bits. Bachasson was another low point. Put my first bet on him, this time last year for The Gold Cup, and it’s quite clear that owner pressure was the only reason he ran here. Mullins obviously had other things in mind for him (I’m assuming Punchestown). A proper damp squib, and to be honest, I was shattered when he fell.
Few nice winners though, and some nice each ways, but the real highlight was Tiger Roll, he was my biggest bet of the week, and had a hangover worthy of it yesterday lol
What about yourself, hope it was a good one.
