Once banned yes, but I see myself as a loyal TRF member
and consider the site the best about for discussing the racing horse.
I have had several snipes at the White Knight over time, but I consider these combats more jousting matches than fights to the death, and anyway his strong, sometimes overbearing, personality needs reigning in at times.
Cormack and Jim are both posters I respect- the fact they are anti Davies doesn’t cloud my view of them at all. Grasshopper steers a middle course and Dave Jay is the peacekeeper. Razeen has done an even handed good job in stimulating debate.
I have never had any problem with Davies either at Flutter as admin or on here, in fact I saw him as a verey positive attribute in both situations. Ok, so he orchestrated his own demise and went out with a bang causing some controversy. Some might say this was opportunitic of the black baron, and I would agree, but controversy is just what talking houses need to stimulate debate, so it is a bit of this and a bit of that.
As for libel, what he openly stated which I have only hearesay on, was surely potentially libellous, and not libel at all if his comments were accurate. I haven’t seen the thread the White Knight previously referred to where all this took place – presumably it has pieces hacked. I rarely visit chat rooms so cannot comment. The subject matter did not seem that large beer, and I must say I have always valued Davies judgement in the past. This publication was part of his own destruction I presume.
flatcapgamble…this outing of thiswhole thing is like a breath of fresh air :fart:

Where are the fish ?
why dont they bite ?
I shall put the coffee pot on the ring
remove my deerstalker from the glass cabinet
and be back to sing
February 16, 2006 at 11:42 #98668The fish and eels are nocturnal creatures as are thier feeding habits.

Not too surprising,
I have given my old backslapping partner
Davies a thoroughly clean bill of health
and trust his word and judgment.
I would suggest if there are any subtle angles on him
as there can be with all of us,
it would only be down to his mischievous sense of fum
and nothing greater than the knave of hearts
who stole the tarts
and ate them in the other house
I have a foot in both camps,
I am a member of his exchange
and gaff. Also loyal to this site.
It doesn’t surprise me that the White Knight and he
have rather fallen out; they are both strong personalities,
on the forward march and
in control of similar assets – men and women in their thousands.
I purely smell out intrigue, and dont wish to delve too much into their private-public battles

February 16, 2006 at 12:26 #98671:old:
As for the White Knight I detect
nothing spurious in his activities,
apart from a desire for a certain tight lipped secrecy
that we all seek at some time or other :o
This site is an asset
and has a worth.
It would be a shame,
but if he has a need to sell
the thing, so be it.
We fish and eels can live with another stirrer.
There have been two occasions in the past
where a sale has been mooted
and I will list these for the sake of history,
oh and intrigue ;)
The stalker period
Very stressful and the white knight received a threat to have his light knocked out in racecourse setting, and face the prospect of having to settle for plain Mr Day. Putting his family first he considered giving up.
the unemployed period
A meeting was arranged with a prospective buyer, and if my memory serves me right it may well have been a thursday. Again if my memory serves me correctly, there were two options open. A possibility of selling half the site with the Knight still in the stirrups or the whole thing with strings – no popups allowed. No deal was done and not surprisingly given the strange conditions. ;). The White Knight opportunely, soon found employment.
Later of course was the Diane deal, done behind closed doors that came to nothing. Incidentally my valuation on this site would amount to considerations of net profit, time involved, and prospect for expansion given the market and possible competition.

I have rattlled on enough
and I presume some of the things
I have written will be challenged
or corrected.
The drawbridge is down for Davies
and that is the course he chose.
These things are droplets
in the stream of consciousness that fascinates us,
but multi coloured ones, which splash
on the stone of intrigue.
February 16, 2006 at 12:44 #98674I’m glad you think this is all a breath of fresh air to you as I tried my hardest not to get involved despite unfair material posted elsewhere and to try & stay out of petty squabbling which has been the agenda, I have not allowed any refernce to him or the site for this reason. This maybe have been in error but I don’t think so as it’s clear and obvious to me this type of publicity is craved so to cut it off seemed the logical way to stay above all this mud slinging, but it is clear a small amount of members needed a topic like this as they felt they missed out on the orginial which I left up for a small amount of time and couldn’t understand my reasons for my actions which I felt have been justified, that said hopefully this topic will resolve it now for the few who won’t let it lie.

I write in bursts
and feel often compelled
and can be happy at the keys.
The trouble is this compulsion
has ruined many things for me
and I have received so little in return
but the mere pleasure of the written word
Knight do not see my apology as a weakness,
just that the eggshells looked so thin
and I am a confirmed member of the
self preservation society.
I’ll be back when snow falls
and with renewed vigour to spy
February 16, 2006 at 13:51 #98683Does that mean twice as much vigour?
