I watched the meeting on the telly; very exciting and you were so lucky with the weather! I was green with envy.
January 28, 2007 at 19:30 #34919<br>It was great to meet up with everyone.
Cormack tells you about my shortlist. What he doesn’t tell you was that I passed on Witch Wind because of the price, picked the wrong one out of Ryeminster and Lucky Nellerie, and finally bailed myself out with the winner of the closing bumper! Too much talking in the bar to concentrate on betting!
The antics of Ella Macadella before the second last had the crowd in fits. She raced around the inside and outside of the course, with her jockey perched on the back of a persuing quad bike!

January 28, 2007 at 19:52 #34921Before I forget, Lucinda was brilliant for sparing us some of her time and the kids were most impressed with her.

A fantastic day even though the quality of racing was poor (well I would say that anyway with it being NH and it also gets a dig in at Grasshopper)  and glad I managed to make it (it was a last minute thing), I enjoyed meeting a few forumites (didn’t get to meet all that was there) and can’t wait to do it all again, I’d like to thank Lekha for arranging the meet with Lucinda and to Cormack for kicking this off and also to all those that turned up to make it a great day, everyone I managed to meet I found interesting and the day flew past all too quickly, why can’t there be 48 hours in a day? ÂÂÂ
I didn’t really have my betting boots on because I was too interested in chatting with the people I met and I missed a few opportunities too, More Likely won 9/1 and Storymaker won 11/2 and the f/c with Crackleando 2nd 8/1 (f/c paid £47.04) but that didn’t dampen my day, however after the racing was over I did tell Rob and Cormack that I was going to have a bet on Thoughtsofstardom and Beamsley Beacon in 5.05 at Wolverhampton as this was the last race of the day before I headed off home but as I approached the tote bookmakers I found out that they had shut up shop at 4.55pm therefor I turned away somewhat puzzled and headed home, it was in the car on the way home that I looked at the Will Hill wap site on my mobile for the result, I found out Thoughtsofstardom won at 8/1 and Beamsley Beacon finished 3rd at 33/1 – I was gutted as Thoughtsofstardom opened at 16/1, I’ve never known the tote to close at Hamilton if there were some races left at other meetings, I thought it would be the same at Kelso. :(
<br>I can only blame myself as I could have put the bet on earlier, I just didnt expect the tote to close when there was a race left, it matters not though as there will be other days.
<br>Anyway enough of that, thanks to all of you that I met, you made my day.
January 29, 2007 at 09:19 #34923It was great to meet you all at last. <br>Sorry I didn’t manage to say bye befopre I left but we were away pretty sharpish after the second last to try and beat the traffic.<br>We must have another meeting soon!<br>x
January 29, 2007 at 09:53 #34924See Jim,there are other courses apart from Hamilton that exist and most are worth visiting.<br>Glad to hear everyone had a good time and certainly would be interested in any future get together (depending on the location of course).
January 29, 2007 at 12:29 #34925I’m suprised they allowed the AW racing to be shown on the screens in the bar, even more suprised that someone didn’t shout ‘get that off!!'<br>
.. I’ll be meeting Jim at Hamilton this year, I’ve heard its the Ascot of the North GD.<br>
January 29, 2007 at 12:55 #34926GD, you don’t say? ;)  I’m not a traveller, so the money won in Scotland stays in Scotland as they say

I reckon your young lad asked the best question of Lucinda Russell, "How do you train a racehorse?". An obvious question perhaps, but not one a lot of us would know the answer to!
