10 Western Charmer (DTHughes) – AELynch 11,10The rain has cleared the last of the snow but waterlogging could now become a problem. Hopefully it gets the go ahead.
Thegreatjohnbrowne is the novice chaser that has impressed me most this season and I’d be sweet enough on his chances here but Meade’s form has me worried. Chicago Grey should give us a good line through the best of the English novices.
December 27, 2010 at 22:42 #333996Thi si s second rank field; Jessies Dream, MDH and Quel Esprit seem the best novices so far by some margin. I hope something good comes out and surprises me.
December 27, 2010 at 23:44 #334002Expecting a big run from Quito De La Roque here, think he’ll have conditions to suit.
December 28, 2010 at 01:35 #334010Thegreatjohnbrowne could be too good for these tomorrow. He was a reaasonable hurdler though came with a bit of a reputation, that will be fulfilled over fences and he won his last two with a great deal of ease. I’d rather be with him than against him for sure.
Of the rest Quito de la Roque will have conditions to suit and Healys Bar is over priced based on his run behind Noble Prince. 18/1 currently available.
EDIT
Although McKierenans stable is sure to have been held up during the weather unless he has alternative facilities availableDecember 28, 2010 at 06:01 #334014

No surprise Willie Mullins opted for the easier option on Satrurday for MD,H and left Quadrillon in. Must have fair chance but I’m rwoing in with the majority and going for Thegreatjohnbrowne. Very impressive so far and looks to be a cut above these depsite it being a fairly hot race.

McKiernans stable looked far from held up after the first fall of snow. His horses looked quite fit at Cork on December 12th, I think his horse will win the first, Changing Times.
I think Quito will win the Fort Leney.

December 28, 2010 at 09:23 #334025A nice little race but I just cant make up my mind which one will win.
QDLR – Has bags of ability and conditions to suit
TGJB – Looks the most progressive of the bunch
CG – Nothing in his favour
HOTP – Ratings pickThe best bet is to Place lay CG has no chance really until the ground improves. HOTP on paper has the makings of a gold cup horse but has yet to prove it on the track. The winner will come from the other two.
December 28, 2010 at 13:18 #334048I said on the other Novice Thread i thought Quito de La Rogue would be much more suited with the 3mile race and i don’t think i am the only one with the way the market has gone.
I think this is a very good renewal and it wouldn’t be out of the question that Gigginstown could win this years RSA with this horse similar to WA last year. He just really is a very interesting horse.
Excited
December 28, 2010 at 13:39 #334049Well blast it anyway. Without the horrendous mistake down the back Quito would have won imo. As predicted he was staying on better than anything up the hill. The 4 miler at Cheltenham could be right up his alley as long as the ground isn’t overly quick.
December 28, 2010 at 13:46 #334051I think he has much more class than a 4 mile race at the Festival.
Davy Russell again just threw in another of his shockers. He missed 2 or 3 down the back when he pushed him. If he got him out of the pack and outside of the field he would have bolted up. The horse however has lots of class and ran a stormer considering that was 2nd run over Fences.
I think he go close in the RSA!
December 28, 2010 at 13:55 #334052I’m a massive fan of the horse, but personally I think he’d have very little chance in an RSA. He just doesn’t have the tactical pace. He wants every hard of 3 miles in a bog, as seen today. Even today, with everything seemingly in his favour, the ground, the trip, the uphill finish, it still wasn’t enough of a stamina test. This horse stays all day, doesn’t know when to give in, but I just can’t see him having the speed for an RSA. He has potential to go very far given his optimum conditions though. Huge talent.
Chicago Grey is another who looks to have 4 miler written all over him.
December 28, 2010 at 14:03 #334054Fair enough Horse but i feel that when he say daylight he flew. I like to see him in behind and then moved up with a mile to go. Once he say daylight he started to make headway.
He is still quite novicey but i could see him staying on in the RSA very nicely. I keep him their for the time being IMO.

Excellent call on CG mate, your post caught my attention had a look, did as you suggested and came out 30 quid on top
December 28, 2010 at 15:44 #334070I hate being right all the time, they finished in a heap. TGJB, who jumped significantly right the whole way, probably has the most potential
