Finsceal Beo ran the 1m of the Irish 1,000 Guineas in a time 3.2 sec slower than Cockney Rebel ran the course and distance the day before.
Ignore the fact that ALL times on Sunday were slower than the day before, that the times in Ireland can be desperately unreliable and need to be checked manually and that winning time is in any case not always a good indication of a horse’s ability: surely this suggests that Finsceal Beo is rubbish and would struggle to pick up a 0-80 on the back of this.
Or have I missed something?

May 28, 2007 at 21:26 #62229Treat was beaten 5¼ lengths at NMK and 5½ lengths at CUR. Form looks solid enough to me.
May 28, 2007 at 21:54 #62231112 RPR, a bit better than a plater

Really? I reckon they’re pretty good (at the major tracks, anyway) – http://www.irish-racing.com now even carry times for all finishers so you don’t have to rely on the beaten distances.

May 28, 2007 at 23:50 #62235Gareth, the times at The Curragh or Leopardstown are timed to hundredths of a second and are announced on course in this format. Beware, however, because the second decimal gets chopped off when the time is published on irish-racing.com and elsewhere, and without any rounding being applied.
For example, if a sprinter runs 59.11 seconds the time will be published as 59.1 seconds. No problem there, but if it had run 59.19 seconds that time also would be published as 59.1.
May 29, 2007 at 00:49 #62236Is the time adjusted to reflect a clear run versus a late one waiting for a gap to open? If a horse is boxed in surely the time will reflect the pace of the slower horses who box in the winner?
May 29, 2007 at 01:30 #62237This is time dilation bit in Einsteins special theory of relativity. We all know time goes slower in Ireland so a length there is appropriately a tardy 0.2s whereas in the hustle and bustle of Hong Kong the HKJC determine a length to be a slicker 0.15s. So we have Shroedingers wave/particle duality, Einsteins mass/energy equivalence and horseracing’s length/time mince.

The finishing time for each individual runner is recorded and displayed after the owner.
David, i don’t need to crab the form, the RP handicappers do it for me
112 Irish
115 French
121 English
the lesser performances should really be expected due to the close proximity of each run,.
Also the different competition, the different field sizes, different course configuration, the different going, which then effects the way each race was run
Wonder if Mordin will say she "bounced" again
