Will Finians Rainbow ever return to the form that saw him win the Champion Chase?
He wouldn’t win another with Sprinter Sacre about, but would be nice to see him back to some sort of form.
It’s clear he’s ground dependant, but surely something is amiss.November 20, 2013 at 12:49 #459109He did suffer an overreach in the race which is why he PU’d.
November 22, 2013 at 13:08 #459262Will be out of action for the foreseeable future after the Paddy Power injury became infected.
November 22, 2013 at 14:07 #459275Lovely horse, but perhaps a shade lucky to win that QM given the circumstances
November 22, 2013 at 15:04 #459284Fair point Steeplechasing, but Sizing Europe had plenty of time to go past if he was good enough. Even if the fence bypass did make the difference, running alongside Sizing Europe in his prime makes Finian’s Rainbow quite special.
Definitely not a sub-standard champion imo.
November 22, 2013 at 15:14 #459285Won a good race fair and square.
November 22, 2013 at 15:31 #459289Is it unlikely he will run again?
November 22, 2013 at 16:40 #459296It feels doubtful now. The horse is rising 11 and probably out until Aintree, if not the whole season. The tone of Nicky Henderson’s press release seemed a little resigned.
"Michael Buckley (owner) absolutely adores him and after the traumas of last year (when Finian’s Rainbow suffered breathing problems), it just doesn’t seem fair for either of them."
You get the impression that Mr Buckley wants to look after him now.
November 26, 2013 at 20:50 #459895his injuries are infected and he is very poorly at the moment, sad hope he recovers

November 26, 2013 at 21:18 #459898Fingers crossed for Finians Rainbow. He has been a grand horse over jumps these past years.
