In the fallout of this for Hendo, do the chasing plans for Lulamba and/or Sir Gino get thrown out the window now?

Mrs Donnelly who owns them both along with Anzadan and State Man may have a say in plans being changed

Good point LD. I was hoping to see Kargese and Lulamba being reverted to the 2 mile hurdling division.
This could be a very open Champion Hurdle similar to one of my very first ones back in 1993 with Granville Again the winner for Martin Pipe.

Golden Ace seems to have cracked it…, it’s a hurdle race and she can jump the hurdles at a decent speed. Bingo!

Good points. I don’t know about horses, but what would catch my eye are the drainage holes in the face of the hurdle, laid out in no obvious pattern.

I don’t understand why Hendo is ruling out fences, apparently due to the potential danger. They are sufficiently different disciplines to make it well worth a try. It’s like assuming a struggling squash champion shouldn’t try tennis.

BTW, Mike Cattermole just mentioned on X that it’s rumoured Constitution Hill fell schooling yesterday.

I’m interested in Kargese. She was entered in the beginners’ chase that Salvator Mundi and Kappa Jy Pyke ran in…I wonder if they put them forward and held her back to see how Anzadam went today. If so – still a balance. He wasn’t good enough to say nope that’s Anz and Lossie, we don’t need a third but not bad enough to bin him off completely and bring her into play. I think they would be as well to stay hurdling. She’d have to be fairly damn good to beat Kopek and Lulamba over fences and that is without reckoning on open company next season. The 7lb allowance isn’t as much of an advantage over fences as it is over hurdles.

I’d say Lossiemouth looks a very good bet for the champion hurdle although I’d definitely have golden ace ew. Anzadam I’m sure will progress but not sure what to make of the new lion. Hopefully just a bad day at the office. Maybe needs further as was spooked once the pace heated up.
Pity state man injured as I’d have him as fav right now if he wasn’t. Division definitely pretty weak right now but as a few have said and ruby re iterated this morning the foal population is way down and lots of potential hurdling recruits are going to Hong Kong and Australia. Could be a low point in top class hurdlers unfortunately.

As mentioned earlier today, either in this or the “CH” tread, I’m quite sure he’s had a bad schooling fall at some time. Maybe roughly a year ago when all his hurdling troubles started to become evident.
If yo take his final flight mistake in the International into consideration he could have been FFF5F.

I think this has been an issue for a while. Fewer Flat horses are going hurdling, due to the all weather and international racing or due to being sold abroad. And a lot of point to point types are going chasing after just one season hurdling (or none, in the case of Fact To File).

The Mullins dominance is also a factor. Would Kopek Des Bordes have gone over fences if he was trained by anyone else?

She would run in the Mares Chase.

She’d have to settle fairly damn well to win the mares chase. There’s no grade 1 mares chase anywhere either

If he were JP owned, he’d be his no.1 horse for the CH.

Marine Nationale was and did. Also Shishkin.

Marine National is pretty decent at his fences and still has a turn of foot. That’s the main reason why he went chasing and also the fact that Barry loves a chasing type.

Marine Nationale is more of a chasing type.

Henderson had Epatante at the same time as Shishkin.
