Much has been made of the Betfair bonus but I think we all know it only involved one horse and at best there would be a small number of contenders. In my opinion it would be far better for racing if someone put up a million pound pot to be shared by any horses who could win at three of the four festivals – Cheltenham, Fairyhouse, Aintree and Punchestown. Hopefully, that sort of initiative would increase the quality, particularly at the Irish venues.

Why? Or are you trying very hard to be amusing.
There are at least 6 or 7 graded races at Fairyhouse and any bonus need not be restricted to a particular type of horse.
April 3, 2008 at 10:25 #155358The problem is the timing of each of the festivals mentioned above.
The season already focuses too much on one main meeting. By offering the bonus to any horse who could win at three of those four would run the risk of having the better quality horses put away for most of the season only to apppear in late winter / early spring.
