Broke a leg on the gallops this morning.
RIP
October 25, 2017 at 11:38 #1323360Just heard that Fayonagh sustained fatal injury on the gallops; so sad for connections, what potential she had
October 25, 2017 at 11:40 #1323362Oh; that’s awful. She and Labaik were the highlights of Cheltenham for me. Jamie Codd must be devastated. Poor girl RIP,
October 25, 2017 at 11:53 #1323366Really sad news. Looked to have a great career ahead of her after an impressive hurdles debut earlier this month
October 25, 2017 at 11:54 #1323368Hate seeing any name on here but this one is a real sickener. Poor Fayonagh; so much potential. RIP
October 25, 2017 at 11:57 #1323370Seems to be happening a lot lately… first Neon wolf now this… wonder if it’s because these horses are worked so hard.

Almost certain it happened as regularly – if not more regularly – in years gone by; we just didn’t here as much of it, Judge.
RIP Fayonagh.

Mega Fortune fell at the 2nd last. Nothing to do with your theory of horses dying because they are being worked too hard.
RIP Fayonagh, such a terrible shame.
October 25, 2017 at 12:31 #1323383Her performance in the Champion bumper was stunning. I’d backed her that day, and had written off the money after 100 yds. Wondered afterwards if it was a fluke, but her subsequent races showed it wasn’t.
October 25, 2017 at 12:34 #1323384Terrible loss and another tough one for the stable after losing Mega Fortune only two weeks ago.
Any equine loss is always very hard to accept, but especially the Festival Bumper winner is imo a horse with huge NH potential. I think she would have been some hurdler and chaser as well…..
Rest in Peace Fayonagh
October 25, 2017 at 12:35 #1323385Maybe it happens more often than let’s say 15-20 years ago. But then again, there are a lot more horses in training and there is way too much racing nowadays. I do think that the number of injuries and fatalities is down compared to the above mentioned period.
October 25, 2017 at 12:36 #1323387That’s really sad. Must have been having a schooling session.
She was a lovely horse and my thoughts are with Elliott and connections. Tragic.

According to the Post, she was just warming up for a schooling session.
It’s a tragedy when any horse dies, let alone one with such ability and potential. My most sincere condolences to all involved with the mare. May she rest in peace.
October 25, 2017 at 14:03 #1323395RIP Fayonagh… Extremely talented horse.
Noob question, as I’ve only been following the sport for a couple of years… isn’t this happening a lot among the elite horses? It is not even in the races… just training.

Yes, it happens also to good horses, because INBREEDING is part of the sport. Horses are becoming more fragile these days, because this is what bad genes cause. It would be nice if John Magnier would impregnate his daughter and then years later the daughters he has with his daughter. You would get some WELL BRED JUNK
October 25, 2017 at 15:38 #1323407Devastating news for Gordon after losing Mega Fortune. Really sad for the owners too because they’re not big time owners like Ricci, JP or Ryan Air.
RIP
