    Apologies if any similar threads pre date this one.
    In replying to a comment from Ian on another thread , I mentioned the truly great Night Nurse , and that reminded me of one of my favourite quotes , and would be interested to hear other members favourites.
    I remember Peter Easterby (never the most outgoing communicator) being asked about the great horse’s notorious laziness on the gallops at home. Easterby thought about it , and then responded with “he couldn’t even beat me at home”.
    Dry , and to the point , but it tickled me.

    My favourite is a rather dark one attributed to Lester Piggott. After riding out a new filly the trainer asked if he thought she could win a race. Answer was “she might – when she’s inside a greyhound”!

    Lester Piggott was once asked after a big race win in America “When did you know you had won?” Piggott is said to have replied “Three weeks ago when I was booked for the ride” or words to that effect.
