Does anyone know if or if not the forgotten horse Fast Company is still in training. If so when you does anyone think he will finally see a racecourse for the first time since his 2 year-old days in finally making his debut in the royal blue silks of Godolphin. If we never get round to to see him set foot on a racecourse again would that make him the biggest flop ever purchased by godolphin?
June 13, 2009 at 12:46 #233655I am sure Darley would make good use of him. He was a smart 2yo wasn’t he ?
He’ll be welcome at stud in Austrsalia i’d imagine.
June 13, 2009 at 14:02 #233670He was withdrawn from the 2,000 Guineas due to a poor blood count if I recall, and might also be carrying an injury which would = a very slow healing stage. (EDIT: Anyone with expertise in horse health can confirm)
We’d know about it if he was retired, that’s for sure.
"The horse who split a Derby winner and Breeders’ Cup Classic winner in the Dewhurst."
I hope he returns, but I won’t hold my breath.

I really feel for trainers who are used to prepare horses for Godolphin – I seem to remember David Loder venting his frustration on the subject once upon a time – and can’t imagine what they think when they see a horse ruined.

June 13, 2009 at 21:29 #233732How else do you explain the constant injuries and disappearances of several high-profile horses they’ve bought? Equitrack and myself keep breaking in and put something in the water?
For the life of me can’t remember every horse they’ve ever bought/injured, but where on earth is Fast Company? Injured for 14 months? Ibn Khaldun’s been missing for over a year. Gladiatorus comes to them, gets injured for the season, goes to Dubai and wins a Group 1 by 10L or whatever it was, becomes rated the world’s best horse.
Same with Eastern Anthem. He won a Maiden & a Class 3, beaten 5 times in pattern company. Not even Group 1s and 2s, but Group 3s and Listed contests! Goes to NAS and wins a Sheema Classic.
Stepping Up went missing for 11 months, they bought Lateen Sails who then finished last in the 2000 Guineas, ditto for Opera Cape, Rule of Law suddenly went missing for a couple of years before finally being retired, Asset went from a sprinter on the verge of being Group 1 class to winning handicaps in Dubai, Copperbeech was 3rd in the Boussac before getting smashed in the Lupe, Dijeerr went from winning a Horris Hill to finishing 11th in the Poulains and then reverting to Conditions race, Donivatum won the BC Juvenile and has subsequently finished 4th in a Listed race.
Il Warrd, Hatta Fort, Greek Well went missing for 6 months, Lady Marian (won L’Opera last year) finished last in the same race as Gladiatorus and hasn’t been seen since, Sagara went from 3rd in the Arc to an also-ran in the Princess of Wales’ Stakes, Schiaparelli went from a regular Group 1 winner to a Prix Foy runner-up and 13th in the Arc, Shaweel went from 4th in the Dewhurst to getting smashed in pattern races.
Shall I go on?
They are useless.

June 14, 2009 at 01:41 #233767No wonder I rarely post on this Forum anymore. I joined it full of enthusiasm to dicuss my passion i.e. horse racing & the amount of sniping & back biting which goes on beggars belief.

Couldn’t agree more. Couldn’t people PM each other if the want to have a fight?
As for Godolphin, it’s too easy to say that they ruin horses or they regress because over the years, for every regression there has been a progression. The injuries are moot because we are not there to see them train, and cannot compare their training methods with anyone elses, so we don’t know. I guess because they have more high profile horses that the injured ones seem to be more highlighted. What I do think has been to their detriment is that they have refused to use Coolmore Stallions.
And Zarkava, you can add Proclamation to your list

June 14, 2009 at 14:11 #233828Some of the comments on this thread were absolutely infantile (both sides of it). Sorry it went on so long people – can’t watch all the threads all the time and all that.
Suffice to say one of the members is now no longer with us.

More power to your elbow, Corm.
Maybe we all should be more diligent, in reporting this kind of garbage via the pm facility?June 14, 2009 at 19:13 #233869Alot of negative and unsubstantiated stuff being written about Godolphin here, and I’d like to ask those responsible exactly HOW they think these horses are being ruined. I presume they know how Godolphin are managing to do this to their multi million pound purchase’s? Have they not heard bad luck before? It’s one thing mentioning all the horse’s that have gone wrong but what does it mean without reasoning?
T’is rhubarb.

He reminded me of Irritable Bowlel Syndrome. Sort of real pain that wouldn’t go away. Must admit he calmed down a bit with me when he realised his grey matter wasn’t up to the task.
Seriously though in Equi’s defense he was a permanant target of this guy who just wouldn’t let up.
Glad Equi is still around as I find him hard but fair.
