The fact is that Kieren WILL be coming back, whatever folk on here think, say, or do.
As a long-time supporter, I’ll be happy if he isn’t popular. The more punters who refuse to back him, the better my price will be.Kiwi seems to know the score, but, for those who haven’t copped on yet, you can take it from me that many participants in horse-related businesses are not to be trusted too far. It’s historical reality.
With this scenario, prudently taken as a given, it is my opinion that KF is not the worst out there, by a long chalk.
In fact, there are hundreds of hangers-on in the game, including several media types, who are far more dodgy , imo.
Riding winners is far harder than whingeing on fora, tv shows, or in newspaper articles. And, btw, the folk on the "shady sidelines" are not the jockeys, who are out there, doing an actual job of work.August 27, 2009 at 13:10 #246059There won’t be any of my money on any horses in his races.
sparkyAugust 27, 2009 at 15:12 #246063The merits or otherwise of his return have been well debated.
He couldn’t have picked a more opportune time to return if he tried- Moore beginning an 8 day ban gives him prominent Stoute rides, ride on Youmzain offered and Hughes beginning a 9 day ban plus lengthy totting up hearing pending (Fallon has ridden for Hannon before)

sparkyWhy not just cut off your nose?
Anyone who thinks a jockey of his skill would ride a non-jigger 10l clear, then sit and wait for the others to pass him hasn’t got much of a clue anyway.
He already has trainers the calibre of P Chapple-Hyam, Luca Cumani and Mick Channon queueing for his services, no doubt shortly to be followed by some even higher in the ranks: do you seriously believe it’s all because they too want a horse stopping?

Hughes got 16 days suspension under totting up today.
Ahern the same punishment

As far as Fallon’s past is concerned, well, that’s exactly what it is.
Whether you think there was no smoke without fire or not doesn’t really matter. Me? I’m a 100% convinced he was as guilty as hell but it’s what he does from here on in that counts.
It;s not us that should celebrate his return but him and unless he’s a complete dunderhead, which I doubt, everything he does now will be 100% above board.
I personally wish him all the luck in the world and hope he gets right back to the top where he belongs.

That will depend upon whom he rides for, and also having the courage to tell those who ask him to cheat to get lost.
June 23, 2011 at 20:20 #19012I thought Fallon has lost it but Wow he really is riding well and from a personal level i am delighted how well he is going.
I posted the thread just after the 9.10 at Lecister where he rode Hurricane Lady a filly from the Great Hurricane Run that he rode for Andre Fabre.
This was just perfect ride….out in front, set steady fraction. Injected pace then slowed it down again, Kicked and a hand job all the way to the line. Incredible Jockeyship compared to the rest of the jockeys whipping away while Fallon just allowed his mount to get balanced on the right lead and just keep nudging along. Compare it to the whip happy jockeys that have made the headline the past few weeks especially De Souza beating the horse home in the Queen’s vase.
Aidan….Fallon on So You Think in a few weeks. From the front no pacemaker. Could not ask for a better jockey for this race.
June 23, 2011 at 21:33 #362255He gave the fav at Leicester in the last tonight a cracker. However if Coolmore go with the ‘best available jockey’ system they insist on, Murtagh should get the nod. Moore is clear of him, and he is clear of the pack.
June 23, 2011 at 22:52 #362261Form is temporary, class is permanent is generally a motto I believe in.
However, Fallon has been a good jockey ( certainly not a great one) , and to a certain degree he is still. However he is certainly, in my opinion, a jockey on the wane. That said I took the 33s available on the champion jockey title, so I hope you are corect and that I am wrongJune 24, 2011 at 02:06 #362269a hand job all the way to the line.
And Frankie got nine days for using his
whip
as a persuader a few to many times. I despair.

I’ve always been a big fan of Kieren Fallon, but he’s not as good as he used to be. I thought he was very poor at Royal Ascot last week and I think he’s a little fed-up with all the travelling he has to do, especially during the summer months.
June 24, 2011 at 11:27 #362294I will not put so much as 5p on anything ridden by him, Ballinger Ridge is too fresh in the memory.
Why is he still riding after that complete disgrace. He’s still stopping a few.
June 24, 2011 at 12:07 #362301hes the best jockey riding today. the best jockey isn’t judged on numbers of winners, but the quality of winners and amount of skill.
his experience is far greater than any jockey. when you put your money on him riding a short priced fav e.g. khor speed yest, you have no doubts about the ride you will get, but if you have spencer or someone on, you always have the doubt that he will cock up.
imo a good example would be in a handicap, where a jockey would ride the horse to a wide margin success, where really the trainer/owner would be pissed off because he’s won too far and the horse will be hammered by the handicapper. but if you put fallon or someone top on the horse, he will time it perfectly, so it doesn’t get hammered.
that skill doesn’t come in a day.
June 24, 2011 at 12:35 #362305I find it very difficult to establish that Fallon’s abilities are waning given that he is up against it for a steady stream of top class rides these days due to either contractural arrangements by stables that used to use him or his misdemeanours in the past…..either way he must have some regrets about how he has played his hand and even if he has seemed lucky to get away with things in the past ( Top Cees, Ballinger Ridge etc) the relative struggle that he is in now compared to his glory days is probably some form of natural justice………but for me that is about the quality of the horses he is given to ride rather than anything else.
For me,if he was given the right horses Fallon is still a world class jockey that I would want on my side but I do get frustrated with his self destructive streak.

Small wonder that horseracing is perceived by some as completely corrupt – when there are still punters around naive enough to believe that KF lost on Ballinger Ridge intentionally.
The mind truly boggles.
