I am a Believer in 2nd chances sometimes- I am Against any sort of glee when one fails to make the proper choices.
I don’t know hardly anything about the man- But I wish him well towards redemption if that be possible for him.
I’m a believer in 2nd chances too , and in the case of Fallon, 3rd, 4th, 5th…nth chances…
What I’m not sure about is whether the media adulation is either deserved or appropriate under the circumstances. Channel 4 at the moment for example – it is pretty much "Yes, Kieren – No Kieren – Three bags full Kieren" on repeat all afternoon. The guy seems to have the entire racing media (Graham Cunningham excepted) wrapped around his little finger…

It all depends on how one
wants
to see things, I reckon.
What I’m seeing is Francome and McGraph doing their best to make Kieren Fallon – who’s not entirely comfortable with his role for C4 this week – feel more at ease by getting him involved at every opportunity. He’s a man of few words in situations like this and they need to get a job done. I haven’t detected any sucking up at all
Maybe the entire racing media are conscious that they’ve probably done worse in their lives and are willing to get on with it for the sake of their jobs? And maybe, just maybe, Graham Cunningham is a hypocritical fellow with delusions of grandeur and an axe to grind?

If you wanted to see some of that you should have watched Matt Chapman interview Mullins on Get On.

Why a hypocrite?
And your "delusions of grandeur" line is interesting? It seems a large number of people in Racing don’t like criticism – and their response to it is to belittle those making the criticism – they haven’t ridden or trained any winners so what is their opinion worth?
August 21, 2009 at 17:54 #245157Seeing I was on Kris Kin at long odds for the Derby and, seeing as he picked it up and carried it over the line, I don’t much care if he’s a serial killer on his days off, personally.
He wouldn’t be my first choice for next Pope, though.
August 21, 2009 at 18:56 #245172hes a sneaky so and so any 1 can c that he looks very shady person i wunt trust him as far as i could throw him im a huge dylan thomas fan though n he rode that well enough
August 21, 2009 at 19:02 #245176Seeing Fallon on Channel 4 reminded me of the way Anthony Powell, in one of his novels, describes a shifty looking waiter: ‘…his brow furrowed with a thousand petty indiscretions…’
August 21, 2009 at 19:13 #245178He wouldn’t be my first choice for next Pope, though.
Barney Curley has to be jolly for that, surely?
August 21, 2009 at 20:10 #245182Next pope:
5/2 Barney Curley
3/1 Tony Martin
9/2 Kieren Fallon
6/1 JJ Lambe
6/1 Ted Walsh
10/1 Jonjo O’Neill
33/1 Ferdy Murphy
100/1 Fr Dougal Maguire
500/1 BAR
Others on requestIt’s all to play for!

It’s just that I’m always a bit more suspicious of those that choose to take some sort of moral high ground, like Cunningham, when it’s futile and plain negative at best. The problem usually lies closer to home from my experiences. The caped crusader, he aint. Although he may be a batman of some sort
August 21, 2009 at 20:39 #245187I can’t wait to see him in action at Lingfield again.

August 21, 2009 at 22:24 #245192I think Paul Nicholls would look good in papal red.
August 21, 2009 at 23:18 #245199Lets play a game sberry……I’ll put up a good Fallon ride Youtube for every bad Fallon ride Youtube you put up.
I’d be fairly confident at this early stage…..
Also a link to 1 other of his 12264 UK rides where he dropped his hands would be appreciated.
August 22, 2009 at 00:17 #245202I’ve already said that racing is poorer without his massive talent Cav, however I hadn’t thought of that.
We could extend the game a bit with me putting up a dean mckeown and fran ferris win for every brown enveope race they rode and while we’re at it I could probably find a good miles rodgers win as an owner for every ‘unlucky’ defeat he suffered as an owner. Karl Burke had loads of good winners too.
You’re right, they should all be allowed back immediately for the greater good of racing, after all, talent is talent and it shouldn’t be missed for any reason.

Not worried personally about ‘ bad rides’ I’m worried about rides that are so blatantly bent as to be laughable.
Not worried at all about nerdy statistics that try to cloud the issue………..bent is bent and the sooner we all agree about what that looks like…….the better.
Why is Harry Findlay ‘plotting up’ a 2yo (in a thread earlier this week) so offensive to someone who can try to offset bent rides with irrelevant statistics? First rule of life……..you can’t have it both ways.
IMO of course.

You should have been in court Bob. Maybe Justice Forbes would have taken the charges a bit more seriously.
You sound like you know what your talking about.
August 22, 2009 at 00:55 #245212I can pretty much guarentee that EVERY licensed trainer in the world has said to a jockey at some point in their career, "This horse isnt off today, we need to drop it" or "Drop it out the back and let it run home to make it look good" and to keep the rides coming in we ride to orders.
You have a choice as a jockey, either ride to orders or dont keep the rides. Im not saying Keiran was completely innocent but he wasnt the only one involved in the supposed race fixing -
