Bognor Regis Town Football Club serve superb bread pudding in their tea bar. Sadly it seems they keep the recipe to themselves……
Here’s a link to a basic recipe
http://thefoody.com/baking/breadpudding.html
or

I suppose it’s then a question of chucking in extra fruit and such as desired.
Failing that drop an e-mail to Bognor Regis, though if I was them I would sit on the recipe!

May 13, 2009 at 15:41 #227345You could try whisking an egg in with the milk.
Also, a cup of vodka, perhaps.May 13, 2009 at 16:18 #227352I’ve got an uncut wholemeal loaf that I bought on Saturday, and haven’t started eating yet.
I’m thinking of making a Bread Pudding after racing.
What I can remember as a kid, is putting butter on the bread, putting a layer of sugar and currants between slices, and when completed adding milk. Bung in the oven until done.
Does anyone have a favourite recipe?
I’m thinking of going upmarket, and using either raisins or sultanas. Also, I suppose things like ginger, mace and cinnamon are de rigeuer these days.

I think yours would be known as Bread & Butter pudding hence the butter on the bread. I say this as My Mum used to make Bread pudding (no buttering) which turned out firm so as you could slice it like a cake, as opposed to B&B which is soggier for want of a better word. I am shortly moving house and joy of joys whilst sorting what to take and what not to, we found the recipe that she had written down for us so I might give it a go when we have settled in.
Both Bread and B&B are very nice all the same (although i personally would leave out Ginger and the like !)

April 16, 2010 at 12:40 #14805I had one last night (in fact I had two as there was three in the packet and my mrs despite being a size 8, whatever that is, is always on a diet ) and what a joy.
I think it must be nearly 25 years since I last had one.
I’m going to buy loads of them and keep them in my secret hiding place. Does anybody else have any any secret pleasures?

April 16, 2010 at 17:23 #290649Remember the Aztec bar from Cadbury? A much missed favourite of mine.
I tried and liked nearly all the cream-egg type sweets on sale over easter. Best by far though was the Lindt one (red foil wrapper). It was probably the dearest of the lot (average 65p): you could get Cadbury Cream Egg for 25p if you shopped around).April 16, 2010 at 18:55 #290669Pompete wrote.. and my mrs despite being a size 8

The walnut whips that is.April 16, 2010 at 21:06 #290695I’ve just asked where she got them – and they are on special at M&S for 99p (normal price 1.90)
All I need now is to find somewhere that does Golden Wonder crips.
