July 16, 2009 at 13:23 #239801Good stuff Mike except that you’ve got it completely wrong about Henrik Stenson who is renowned for his good sense of humour.
Also hope you are wrong about Sergio as I’ve backed him but you probably aren’t.

July 16, 2009 at 19:17 #239837First green this afternoon, Ian Poulter is about to putt – he’s wearing a union jack patterned waistcoat over red and blue tartan trousers.
After about ten seconds of silence, Sam Torrance quietly says ‘please do not adjust your set’.

Not when I tried to photograph him at the Belfry a good few years back. Mind he was about +15 and through his backswing at the time!!

July 19, 2009 at 17:43 #240119If Tom Watson can win this today it won’t just be the greatest golfing achievement of all time – it’ll be the greatest SPORTING achievement ever too.
July 19, 2009 at 18:04 #240128Im not a huge Golf fan but i have been enjoying watching the Open as it is on the telly and you do get a full days action for £60 which is the admission price according to the website.
I dont understand why the crowd aplaud like crazy when someone Tees off at a hole, I mean you dont clap when a pass is done at a football match do you!

Depends how good the pass is. I’m sure they clapped Beckham everytime he touched the ball.
Member since March 2008July 20, 2009 at 00:11 #240154Tom Tom Tom, you threw it away me old son. Too long off the fairway at 18, then down in three. Deary me.

Sandy Lyle, Tom Watson, Nick FaldoHaving spent a lifetime making such idiotic predictions, I’ve never wanted one to be shoved down my throat so much as this!!
What a chance you had Tom – such a shame. Painful to watch the play-off.

July 20, 2009 at 13:25 #240198Felt sorry for Westwood as well – he bravely went for the birdie at the last presuming that Watson would make a 4 – as it turned out Westwood could have lagged it up, taken his par and gotten into the playoff at -2
