Isn’t it wonderful how Ginger thinks the Swiss bet is a wonderful bit of punting as the Swiss go from 100 to 30.0 on betfair and have to play Spain for a place in the semis.
Yet my bet on Czech Republic at 130.0 that I can easily cash in Right now for a decent profit regardless of the outcome was a terrible mug bet even though they Only have to beat Denmark for a place in the semis.
My Croatia bet was apparently a total mug bet at 140.00 even though it shortened into 80.0 on betfair.
I would go as far to suggest that had I of put up Switzerland to win at 100/1 that Ginger would be calling that a mug bet. Big G does it and it’s a fantastic value bet.
This coming from someone who tipped up Southgate England for the Last World Cup and backed them at 7/1 pre tournament, then layed the bet back at a loss after the Scotland draw and then backed them again after they beat Czech Republic in a dead rubber at Wembley (even though Czech Republic are apparently rubbish).

I would guess it’s more so that EVERYTHING I say is wrong and he must try to belittle it.
So even though you may have had many different opinions your bet was a good one. Mine are ridiculous.
I guarantee you if I put that same Switzerland bet up that you did that Ginger would have sneared at it like he’s my boss and told me it was a terrible bet and that only his opinion could be correct.

With you everything is about exaggeration – including how you portray me. Every team, every match, or even government and people. Now you’ve got yet another conspiracy theory going.
They’re all either the greatest or useless. It’s not your bets themselves that I criticise, it’s the reasoning… And if I think the reasoning is wrong (the exaggeration) then it’s difficult to compliment.
ie If you came on here and totally exaggerated how magnificent the Southampton football team are and how crap their opponents Man City are and how Southampton are going to pulverise City.etc etc.. I’d (in the strongest of terms) disagree and criticise your bet. But betting is all about probabilities / chance, so of course there is always a chance Southampton will beat City… You win your bet and go on about how your analysis was right all along and how brilliant you are for knowing and how foolish everyone else is. Sorry mate, Southampton beating Man City does not mean any such thing. Could be wrong but seems to me it’s the old gambler’s problem of confirmation bias.
Contrast that with someone with a more realistic angle. Who concedes Man City are a bloody good team but that Southampton have some good points and argues that Southampton are under-estimated in the market. I may not agree with him pre-match but if Southampton win I’ll certainly congratulate him and might even concede my pre-match theories were wrong.
Please be careful Robbo. By exaggerating you may be getting more pleasure from betting. ie Exaggerating how different your beliefs are beforehand may exaggerate the euphoria of a winning result (and you may enjoy it in that respect). But I’ve also seen this exaggeration in others and it can lead to over-confidence, betting and losing more than you can afford. So yes, I do wish you every success, just don’t want to encourage you too much.

With how the line up for the quarters and semis are working out, whoever wins tonight will be Euro favourites. Winners will play either Sweden or Ukraine in the quarters and then (if through) Denmark or Czech Rep in the Semi’s. Spain may have Switzerland in the quarters but would then face Italy or Belgium.
tbh I think the betting on tonight’s game is about right. England slight favourites – at least in 90 mins.

The England side of Venables was an outstanding football team with a brilliant manager. They couldn’t do it.
