    Coolmore’s patronage of the Derby over the last two decades has been vital for the Derby. The race would be much poorer without them.

    I only wish they would help to sell the race better to the public. They don’t have to be punching the air or doing cartwheels in the winners enclosure. But looking a bit happy and excited after winning the race again might help.

    Most sports have these phases where one team dominates. Man city for a while,Phil Taylor in the darts. Sampras at Wimbledon,Nadal in the French open. It never lasts forever. I do get the point of the lack of celebration. They only really celebrated if it was Joseph or Donna cha riding the horses or at the breeders cup. I have to admit racing needs competition and right now it seems most decent races in Britain its coolmore and godolphin with gosden on the premises and maybe beckett. Very few other trainers getting a look in. Even ger lyons who I thought could have maybe entered the top league has tailed off.The days of small trainers being at the top table are very rare now except in the sprinters. Unfortunately as in most sports now its all down to money.
