Really saddened to see Elixir De Nutz’s name here. I think most of us who have followed Jumps racing for a long time will have sadly developed an eye for which falls aren’t going to have a positive outcome, and Elixir’s was definitely in this category.

He took his form to a new level this season, and played a major role in a number of this season’s big chases over the shorter distances. What a shame we will not see him again.

Like many no doubt, my hopes rose significantly when it was said that he was able to walk into the horse ambulance after prolonged treatment – this is a stark reminder (if one was ever needed) of the knife’s edge these jumping warriors live (and sadly) die on.

Condolences to his connections, the groom in particular.
