Lancetto sold for 120,000 gns, Narcisco for 32,000 and First Smash for 12,000
October 30, 2008 at 00:26 #187082LANCETTO is over-rated, if you consider he was turned over at odds of 1.2 by a horse rated 74.5 (Flat Eric) , this horse as disappointed more than not and im not sure i would touch anything origionally trained by Mario Hofer, whilst he looks the business he`s only won 1 from 7 and he`s likely to go for an inflated price
Good shout Tony.

On that basis, I’d say that whoever got Narcisco has got a bit of a bargain. I did have a guess at the prices the horses would go for, but I didn’t quite get it right. My prediction was:
First Smash – 10,000 – 20,000 Guineas
Lancetto – 80,000 – 100,000 Guineas
Narcisco – 40,000 – 50,000 GuineasI see that Charlie Swan has bought First Smash – he could do a decent job with it. I don’t know who Mr. G. Deren is, but he’s done well to get Narcicso at the price, but I’m still really looking forward to Lancetto running over hurdles – I’m not sure who the BBA Ireland have bought him for, but with the right trainer, he could do really well. OK, he’s about as reliable as an Austin Allegro, but he’s got talent, and if he takes to hurdles, could seriously be one to watch.

October 30, 2008 at 12:44 #187125Wow i would have been interested in NARCISCO for that price, would appear great value but time will tell, i thought 80K would be high enough for LANCETTO so he looks a tad expensive, seeing hurdles might put his head right though,FIRST SMASH for 12 should prove reasonable,he`s not a bad looking horse,if placed right he could pick up a race or two!!
AP if your friend is looking for a duel purpose horse he might find it worthwhile to scout the German market,he could certainly pick up a bargain , more importantly he would almost certainly find something with a bit of scope and a few miles on the clock, i would tend to look through the smaller trainers though as your likely to have something to work on!!
October 30, 2008 at 13:14 #187128There’s a G Deren that’s a registered owner with horses in training with Nigel Hawke and Mrs D Hamer, so that might be the destination for Narcisco.
January 23, 2009 at 16:21 #206044El Dancer makes his hurdling debut at Doncaster this afternoon – race time 1:20. All our ownership guesses were of the mark as he’s appearing in the colours of ‘Ron Davies’ – means nothing to me.
He’s been backed on Betfair from 6/1 down to approx 3/1 at the time of writing.
January 23, 2009 at 16:23 #206046Personally i hope he gets hammered……. (i’m a part owner of moonwalking!)
January 23, 2009 at 19:02 #206068A performance that begs the question ‘does Ms Wadham have a flat licence’.
Jumped left throughout, made ground from midfield comfortably before the third last, but went badly left there and blundered at each of the last three flights.
January 23, 2009 at 21:08 #206086where did he finish in the end?
I can’t imagine him to be an easy horse to train for National Hunt purposes.
January 23, 2009 at 21:24 #2060896th behind moonwalking in 5th. Quewtwo won very easy in a very nice time.
January 23, 2009 at 21:39 #206093I backed him without reading this thread!
I thought Murphy let the winner get far too far ahead, then tried to make up the ground on the run in where he didn’t seem to get hope and jumped to the left at all the flights in the home straight looking like a very tired horse, faded from 2nd to 6th.
Winner Quewtwo was very impressive on his hurdling debut seemed to love the conditons and the trip. One to keep an eye on..
