From what I’ve read Edwulf looks to have got up after its awful fall & walked into the horse box. This is such great news & really cheered me up tonight. I would like to thank all the veterinary & other racecourse staff at Cheltenham for their great work in looking after the horse.
What concerns me though is that many of the tabloid newspapers were just waiting to report on another fatality & rehash their usual ‘horse racing is cruel & should be banned’ tripe. They should be ashamed of themselves wanting harm to befall these wonderful creatures.

Do you have any evidence at all to support your comments in the second paragraph?
March 14, 2017 at 22:33 #1292103Yes look at the Daily Star they barely give much story to the horse being okay
March 14, 2017 at 23:33 #1292129Phil edwulf did not fall. He jumped the last looking tired and then seemed to go into some sort of spasm at which point he collapsed and had the screens round until well after the last race had been run. From social media he did get up and was taken away and apparently it is touch and go as to what will happen next.
I hope he is fine. JP and Aiden O’Obrien were with the horse for the whole time.
It was also nice to see Calet Mad (I think) walk away after being cared for by the vets and staff. At one point it looked like he would collapse but after considerable watering and massaging he walked away hopefully in good health.March 15, 2017 at 08:15 #1292190You’re right Phil. The Daily Express online had a “story” with the headline “Cheltenham Festival Horror” claiming he’d dropped dead which must have been posted before the screens were even up. Not sure how long it took them to add the correction that he’d actually walked away. Disgusting – as well as lazy and misleading journalism. Though I would hardly expect that particular rag to be too bothered about checking its facts
