Broke a leg at Ascot today and had to be put down.
Another decent performer that came out of my favourite Kelso Bumper ranks and, with a dearth of decent chasers in the North, will be sadly missed. RIP
December 17, 2016 at 18:02 #1277648A really horrible injury, sadly just about the only thing in the race that was visible through the fog. Poor Eduard. R.I.P.
December 18, 2016 at 08:38 #1277717I had backed Eduard so was trying to keep a close eye on him through the fog. A horrible leg break. RIP Eduard
December 18, 2016 at 10:41 #1277736It’s awful when a horse has been nursed back from injury only for this to happen. Poor Eduard. RIP
December 18, 2016 at 12:48 #1277748The second such injury I’ve seen on a TV screen this week. That was also to a horse back from a long lay off, Unnamedsoldier at Ffos Las. Devastating for all the staff that have been working with these horses.

Very sad to hear this. Poor poor Eduard. I can’t bear to think of it. Horrible injury.

Yes Moe sadly he fractured his pelvis on Saturday at Ascot in the race won by Poker School.
Nicky Henderson stated it was touch and go at moment.
No more news yet on how he’s fairing so keeping everything crossed that he gets through this.
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...December 21, 2016 at 12:12 #1277995I’m sure that, a few years ago they thought Captain Conan might turn out to be the best of the lot . He reminded me of a young Mill House back then. Hope he pulls through. Sounds as if he’s adored by everyone at Seven Barrows.
December 22, 2016 at 16:16 #1278132I feared the worst for a horse I’ve always thought would be top class. He should’ve won the Peterborough but for a mistake at the last.
December 23, 2016 at 19:05 #1278261Better news of Captain Conan at least
“I’m pleased to issue a slightly more upbeat bulletin with regards to CAPTAIN CONAN who got injured at Ascot last Saturday. He’s still at Simon Knapp’s but is progressing nicely and while his racing days are sadly over, we hope that he can make a good enough recovery to enable him to enjoy a happy and well-earned retirement”.
Fingers crossed
December 24, 2016 at 01:11 #1278312That’s great news to read regarding Captain Conan, with the stable still mourning the loss of dear Simonsig they could do with some luck. Wish him well on the road to recovery and a long and happy retirement.
