Extending six lengths to second in an international Group 1?
March 28, 2009 at 21:18 #218926Waste of time and a journey for Paco Boy.
Badly drawn and never featured.
I am a fan of the horse but see it as a 7f horse.
Unfortunately , not much in the racing calendar in UK at that distance.
Thus expect connections will try to turn it into a miler.
Being a year older may help it stay

Lockinge?Lockinge, St James Palace and Sussex Stakes followed by the Breeders Cup is the plan outlined by the Hannon Team
He’s a 7f specialist, not a miler
March 28, 2009 at 21:28 #218933What a ride from the front that was, havent seen the horse before personally, but looks a strong individual.

All over a mile I’m afraid.
Not much for 7f horses in the UK calendar
They had a similar problem with Major CadeauxMarch 28, 2009 at 23:03 #218961Waste of time and a journey for Paco Boy.

They had a similar problem with Major CadeauxI know Lingfield

Hence the sad face
The Hannon team will have a similar problem with Soul City this year too IMO
March 28, 2009 at 23:44 #218974Is it possible the Previs team got the tactics wrong? Or is it the only way he can run?
I feared that against such a range of top class opposition it was risky. And yet without the outstanding performance of the winner. he would have won. It seems to me he’s a better horse than the winner. The ground he made up against that kind of field was incredible.
March 29, 2009 at 03:28 #219026Somewhat depressing to read that Gladiotorous now goes back to Godolphin

There goes a super horse
March 29, 2009 at 14:44 #219076Grimes, the only mistake connections/jockey made with Presvis was to decide to go inside up the straight.
Knowing there would be a strong pace and being drawn wide was perfect to sit in the two path out the back, pull him out early in the straight and have a clear passage, they must have known there would be horses falling back on their laps down the inner.
Having said that, the winner must be just about the top turf horse around, you just do not see horses go that quick at that track and not fall in a hole half way up the straight.
If the other horses had of gone with him they would have been beaten further, and if they had just gone a stride slower on the winner he would have won by further, truly sensational performance.

To be expected. Usually a high-class horse under the Darley/Maktoum umbrella who shows form on Dubai World Cup night will be transferred.
Might do him the world of good. Frankie now pilots a super front-runner.
March 31, 2009 at 04:05 #219353I obviously wasn’t following Presvis properly, Twinkle Twinkle. I didn’t see him try to go up the inside. That was a tall order, all right, in a field that size. Epecially when so far back.
I would like to see a match between those two. I think Presvis was gaining on him all the time at the finish. Gladiatorus broke the track records in his 2 previous races, so perhaps he wouldn’t have caught him in a trouble-free race. And, of course, Presvis was still some lengths back at the finish.

You can imagine Frankie being near unbeatable on this horse during the summer.
Godolphin haven’t done too badly in recent seasons with older horses around this distance which they bought, such as Ramonti or Creachadoir, have they?
I hope they swerve further races in the East, and bring him back for a full European summer – I reckon people will put his win down to an element of luck and slightly stolen, and he’ll be a very backable price, against a very weak older division.
April 1, 2009 at 13:20 #219494I’ll bank him for the Lockinge, but here’s hoping the early season campaign centers around the Queen Anne.
April 1, 2009 at 21:21 #219544He’s taking the same route Godolphin tried with Creachadoir before he got injured after his Lockinge win last year.
Lockinge then Queen Anne is on the cards I reckon.
Richard Hannon must have just realised Paco Boy wont be anywhere near winning the Lockinge this year too
April 1, 2009 at 22:44 #219564Timeform have rated the winner the top horse in the world….
April 2, 2009 at 01:13 #219585Paco Boy wasn’t helped by:
Groung being too firm, he likes some juice.
Plane stopped in Holland for 4 hours on route. Didn’t get off.
Became distressed in pre parade due to fireworks going off-had to go into a box.
Crap draw
Chose the inside route and was stopped by tired horses.
Sweated upCant think of anymore

..and the possible fact he’s not a 9 furlong horse and barely stays a mile
