I’ve dreamed about racing, and dreamed actual races, but never dreamed a winner to my recollection.
February 6, 2015 at 22:33 #504322David,
You should try the "Rocking Horse Winner" film approach. However,
you’ll see some serious whip abuse in that film.February 6, 2015 at 23:23 #504331Ha – I remember that one. That wooden horse took some stick!
February 7, 2015 at 00:26 #504338I had a very vivid dream before the 2008 Gold Cup. It had commentary from Simon Holt, mid-race interjections from Tanya with exchanges updates and everything.
Denman tanked along in the lead through the first circuit and a bit, Kauto shadowed him on the second circuit until Denman took the final open ditch by the roots and lost all momentum. Kauto was left alone about 30 lengths clear but got very weary after the last and swerved all over the track, with Denman heroically cutting him back to within half a length at the line.
I don’t pay any attention to my racing dreams now.

Oh dear, whither the irregular verb?

What is the only word in (British) English that ends in -mt?

February 7, 2015 at 08:40 #504368I dreamt a dream my youth football side beat the top side which had not lost a game in two years. I should of known I was dreaming as the game was in the school playground. The next day full of confidence told the team we would win 3-0 as I’d dreamt it.
I can remember going through early on goal at 0-0 and putting a shot wide.
The final score was 10-0 to them….

Bloody lovely it was
You were my valet; or given your youth perhaps houseboy would be more appropriate, which is even lovelier
As I latchkeyed myself back into Drone GHQ, I was aware of the smell of fresh Darjeeling and, unless I was mistaken, a spot of toast. Hughes has an instinct for the hour of my return and for the sort of fillip that’s needed.
I was scanning the evening paper when he duly shimmied in with the needful. Alongside the buttered t. was an unopened telegram, and I didn’t like the look of it.
"Who the devil’s this from, Hughes?"
"I should not care to hazard a guess, sir."
I uttered a small cry as I saw the name of the sender, one D Cormack. It took a certain mental steel to read the contents in full. They were as follows…

Dear Mr Wooster, Can you please tell your man Jeeves that there is joyous news emanating from the Big Smoke. It has been decided that the game is up with that whip chap and he has been sent to Coventry with immediate effect. The throughbred racehorse can now race unfettered by the evil lash and I shall be celebrating with a glass of pimms and a large cigar this evensong.
Such was the excitement with which I received this spiffing news, I must confess to having Creamt (sic) the old pantaloons this morrow.
Yours in sport Gussie Fink-Nottle
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

Barmy Fotheringay-PhippsFebruary 7, 2015 at 19:41 #504554I only ever remember dreaming one winner. Forgotten the name now but it ran at Glorious Goodwood back in the late 80s and won at 14/1. About 5 weeks before the event I clearly dreamed the Teletext results page which showed the horse winning at Goodwood. I did back it, though not as heavily as maybe I would have liked. My dad on the other hand had £20 on at a morning price of 16/1 which was a huge stake by his standards!
I also remember on one occasion of dreaming the result of a Reading v Wimbledon football match and knew who was going to score the goals and how. It was an eerie feeling when I saw the first goal go in and realised I knew what the score would be. Pleasingly for a Royals fan Reading won 3-0.

February 9, 2015 at 13:17 #504798Sometimes you don’t have to dream about racing as the clues come to you in different ways.
A couple of weeks back I had a dream that seemed to be leading me towards choosing a runner for the Grand National or Grand National Trial.
I was on a bus for some reason with my dog (not with me anymore) and we got off at the wrong stop miles from where we wanted to be.
We walked and walked and I could not get any clue as to where we were until I saw the name of the street on a sign, as I went to look at the name I realised that we had walked into a rural part of the street leading into a wood, the name of the street Corrin Street.Putting two and two together I
twigged
it was Corrin Wood
Now I just have to wait and see if McCain can train yet another GN winner.
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...February 9, 2015 at 14:22 #504803This maybe a Dream I’m having now but I have only ever once dreamt a real horse in training won a race. The horse was called
Sam M
and its going back to the 80’s I’m sure but I had a vivid dream this fellow won a race so when I woke up and still remembered the name,(I’ve had loads of dreams about lucky 31’s all winning and finding out in the morning it was just a bloody dream and I wasn’t really going shopping for my Ferrari.B*stard feeling that is).Anyway About 3 weeks later this horse actually ran and won and I lumped on,it was only about 5/2 or something short but it was the one and only time a dream actually came true.
Of course me being TAPK means I dont need to dream winners as in reality I have a magic tree at the bottom of my garden where a little Squirrel lives and he leaves horses names written in nuts……The little B*stard couldn’t spellMikael d’haguenet
and it cost me a fortune.
He’s speltGiovanni Canaletto
perfectly though so thats this years Derby Winner sorted.

February 10, 2015 at 22:21 #505014There are several people stuck in the same dream right now and it goes like this:-
"They’re coming to the final fence in The Cheltenham Gold Cup and Coneygree has a ten length lead over Foxrock in second and The Giant Bolster is just behind them in third. Coneygree is spring-heeled at the last and sets off up the run-in with an unassailable lead, Foxrock is keeping on well in second, with First Lieutenant coming through for third from The Giant Bolster, with Lord Windermere taking fifth with a performance that suggests he would have won had the race been tomorrow. Silviniaco Conti fell at the first, Bobs Worth needed the race and was tailed off with On His Own and the unlucky Boston Bob, who’ll probably start favourite at Aintree next time. Holywell was trained for the one race, it just wasn’t this one, Many Clouds would have liked it softer than the Heavy with Quicksand in places and Carlingford Lough couldn’t come because he was starring in a Documentary about AP’s retirement."
Alarm clock goes off…………
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
