Beaten again in Maisons-Laffitte . Is it unfair at this stage to label him an expensive horse to follow? Some horses it seems are very, very difficult to win with whatever you try looks like Dragon Dancer could be one of those to me.
July 23, 2006 at 21:04 #73797In fairness today was a French Group 2.The horse has been 2nd and 4th in Derbies and highly tried.
I’m sure it will win a decent maiden in the UK as a start
July 23, 2006 at 21:38 #73798Interesting topic. I don’t think the trainer would consider him a "maiden" but he will want to get the horse off the mark as soon as possible.
What price would he be for a maiden – 1/10? He tried to find a soft G2 for him but it couldn’t win it. It doesn’t seem to have any not wanting to win/ mental issues he just seems to find one or two too good.
July 24, 2006 at 07:06 #73799I think its fair to summise that he`s not so good as his Derby second would imply, maybe he`s holding a bit back (although connections haven`t put that theory forward ), Mario Hofer as his horses in good form, however,it has to be said that RASHING NUMBERS wouldn`t be considered the best horse in the stable, all in all, with the Fabre horses misfiring, yesterday was his big chance ,and he didn`t take it,i will be surprised if he ever picks up a goup race !!
The Derby always seems to leave its mark on one or two horses. I think hes a likeable type who will find a decent race in time, as much as anything because GW is a very patient trainer
