LADBROKES
Offer 7/2 about
Weapons Amnesty
,others are going 7/4, now either Ladbrokes "Early warning system" has had a power failure,or they just want to make a stand and see a weakness in the horse that i fail to see! In again last night to £20! I hear the ground could be softer than i thought mind!

Roberto Goldback has developed in to a lovely chaser and has to go close following his destruction of Apt Approach last time, but after much deliberation I’ve fallen on the side of
Oscar Looby
at 14/1.
Whether he met an on-song Alpha Ridge at Naas is open to debate, but he won fairly impressively in the end and has always been held in high regard by Noel Meade.
Zaarito may struggle with the trip and Weapons Amnesty hasn’t convinced over fences (Lenbane finished far too close to him at Leopardstown for my liking).
February 5, 2010 at 13:39 #274134I think Cousin Vinny is a live contender, and worth the risk. He has been beaten by a couple of his competitors, but if my memory serves me right, they were ahead of him in preps. The 10/1 is fine, and the ground and distance should be ok also. The step up up in trip should also be alright. Big Vinny has a good chance here, and will come on for his last race. Ignore him at your peril, because he won’t be out of the places !

Little Vinny would be more apt

I like you. I really do. Such a pity you’re stone mad
I’m a professional CV hater so just ignore me
Thing is about Cousin Vinny he doesn’t seem to have made any progress this season.
You could put his last run down to the trip being too short but looking back WM did opt for the shorter race at Cheltenham. Finding "ran on" in his form doesn’t seem to be something written about him and I think he’s simply one paced and will be shocked if he can reverse form with Roberta Goldback who looked even more impressive when winning over this course and distance.
Zaarito is the joker in the pack. 2nd to Captain Cee Bee I doubt if he would get within 10 lengths of him now but he must be a fair animal. He won his next very easily the bookies obviously fear him but how can you bet him having fallen 3 times in 5 outings.
Someone somewhere said Weapon Amnesty isn’t really a chasing type but his form with Pandorma looks decent to me, especially as he had Catch Me was back in 3rd his form with Mumbles Head who was tailed off behind Weird Al is rubbish but once he hit form last season he was very consistant.
Unlike PN and Nicky Henderson I get the impression Charles Byrne trains his horses like marines so I doubt if this fellow will go to post 1% below peak fitness. The race is just far enough away to let him down for a couple of weeks after the race and bring him back just in time for the festival.
Really fancy hi to take the spoils here agains what look pretty weak opposition in comparison to pandorama.
February 6, 2010 at 18:36 #274463Dunno if Charles Byrnes trains his horses like marines, I mean, he’s a serious operator to get improvement out of a horse throughout the season and target certain races.
I never thought Cousin Vinny would make a chaser but I wouldn’t be surprised if he ran well tomorrow. If Zaarito stands up who knows what he’ll do, but, as you say, you can’t really back him with any confidence. Perhaps one for a Paddy Power faller insurance bet?!
I’m finding it hard to split Weapon’s Amnesty and Roberto Goldback.
February 6, 2010 at 18:57 #274473I’m not saying Vinny will win, but at 10/1 i think he represents good value with 3 places. He has it all to find with Roberto Goldback, but i think there’s more to come from him. One thing about CV is that he will travel well, and in testing conditions you never know. What heightens my suspicion is that i haven’t backed him. The other day i tipped two Dubai horses in two races that i didn’t back because i’m skint, and they both va va voomed home at 25/1 and 16/1 respectively. If he wins, i think i will crack like a nut. I can just see two horses pissing all over CV, then the world as we know it will pause, where upon two jockeys will get off board and chap my tv screen and say "watch this mate", where upon the world resumes and they grin and jump off their horses at the last fence, leaving Vinny to take first place.
February 6, 2010 at 20:42 #274519I too am with Cousin Vinny at these prices … he had Pandorama cooked when coming down at the last in the lead in Deloitte 12 months ago this day.
He was sick at Cheltenham but the Supreme form has held up well.
Second to Mikael’ at Punchestown is not too shabby at all
and then close up seconds to Roberto Goldback and An Cathaoir Mor have looked better following graded victories by those winners.
Maybe tomorrow we will be saying…how in the name of God Almighty have we let this fellow go off at 10/1.February 6, 2010 at 21:52 #274546I’m another Cousin Vinny backer at 10/1
February 6, 2010 at 21:55 #274547Another COusin Vinny backer at the odds tomoro.
He jumped very poorly last time out and still wasn’t beaten that far by Arkle Winner An Cathoir Mor…..Stonking Bet
February 7, 2010 at 14:50 #274679Disappointing by Roberto,Zaarito would have won had he stayed on his feet.
Weapons Amnesty needs further.
Is anybody surprised at that?February 7, 2010 at 15:05 #274683Well Fist was right about Vinny – we were right about the price though!!
February 7, 2010 at 17:43 #274717Citizen Vic was mentioned highly in Willie Mullins stable tour. Cracking ride from the front….Probaly a step up in trip would only improve him again. Good performance.
The rest couldn’t quicken in that ground but the jockey stole the race for me on the winner
February 7, 2010 at 23:25 #274812Aye as WM said CV was just looking after himself, doesn’t help win a race lol, jolting mistake at the 3rd last and another stopper 2 out, before which he was running a reasonable race. Ya pays yer money…..
February 8, 2010 at 01:26 #274816Cousin Vinny going for World Hurdle if they can get an experienced jockey instead of Patrick Mullins who threw away the Supreme last year must have an excellent each way chance. The divison isn’t the strongest apart from Big Bucks.
February 8, 2010 at 02:41 #274821Although Zaarito made just the one ultimate mistake that can be put down as
one of those things
, I feel that if Davy condon had got on the scene a little earlier thus making the ride look a little smoother, he could have let the horse pop the last and cantered home. The horse wouldn’t have known it’d had a race! The fact that he got so far behind and then chose to make up all the ground between the penultimate fence and the last, seemed a little harsh on the horse. I’m sure he’d do things differently in hindsight.
