Looks like a really good novice’s hurdle with Nicholls’s Najaf, King’s Salden Licht, and the pretty useful Grey Soldier from Ireland.
Most interested in the run of Grey Soldier who provides us with an insight into just how good Rite Of Passage is.
February 27, 2010 at 13:16 #279441Having an e/w on Cool Touch at 25s. Think he should go well on the ground.
February 27, 2010 at 13:51 #279447Just in case the ground isnt quite as soft as I was hoping (hard to work out from 1st 2 races) will have a go on dr livingstone at 25-1 also.
February 27, 2010 at 18:47 #279522Either Paul Nicholls has a super horse on his hands, the ground was even stickier than we thought or they went off way too fast up front.
Confusing race for the Neptune thats for sure
February 28, 2010 at 22:50 #279781Some time after the race, for which I strongly fancied Grey Soldier, I happened to glance at Ladbrokes’ morning prices, as advertised in the Mirror.
And lo and behold, what did I espy but a horse called Escort’men quoted at just 6/1 – before Frascati Park in the betting, which was rated the (public) form horse by a number of form pundits, including the RPR, I believe.
That infuriated me, because I usually look out for a horse’s price that seems anomalous, and that really would have rung an alarm bell had I seen it. And, of course, it went out to 16/1.
Another opportunity missed that will never come round again, though I hope similar ones might.
