Good Grand National trial imo. Jumped well, likely to be top weight and therefore let in around 5 lbs well-in and could improve a bit more given an extreme test of stamina.
I’m with you on this one, Ginge. Don Poli has long looked tailor-made for the National and I can’t wait to see him run in it.
February 12, 2017 at 21:22 #1287150Here’s some stats for you Ginge
If backing Don Poli blind in the last 6 races you would have lost £6 to a £ stake
Not the probable winner at 9/4 but if he ran the race again 100 times his probability would be that he’d win a fraction over 30 times whereas in real life he’d win about none.
Agree about the National though if they double the distance…..

February 13, 2017 at 16:28 #1287219What’s going on is obvious. DP will get dropped 2/3 pounds for the down royal run, will return from his ‘hunting’ as fat as a fool, run in the Lexus or something and get beaten easily again, possibly one more heavy defeat at some stage in February, get dropped another couple of pounds and get a mark of about 155 for the Grand National and carry about 11st 4. Will turn up at aintree looking much fitter with cheekpieces applied, be heavily backed, and run a big race.
Well the Irish Gold Cup has since passed. Your predictions , agreed by others has been spot on
