Been working out the form of the 2:45 at Fontwell.
Does this mean he does not want it too soft?
Wildbach: 20th July "Held up, 5th entering pond, swam slowly, ran on from 3 out….stayed on from 2 out to take second last".

Oh yes! Welcome Mark, to the weird and very wonderful world of the German Lake Race, or ‘Seejagdrennen’ as the natives call it. Basically it’s a steeplechse with a great big lake it the middle of it, and this one was at Bad Harzburg earlier this year.
There’s no footage of this race, but Helmac won the corresponding race last year, and it can be found here:
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!
FLIPPERS LAKE RACE IS ON YOU TUBE!!!!!
Sorry ’bout that – Have a look at this, and you get the gist:

Apologies for the slightly shoddy camera work!! This is Fiepes Shuffle, aka Flipper, having his first ever run in the Bad Harzburg Lake Race, and as you see, he’s not the easiest to stop when there’s a lake!!!

December 23, 2008 at 05:24 #198756Sidetracking slightly, Darren, it looks like Fegentri has uploaded all of its 2008 series of international amateur riders’ races onto Youtube in the last fortnight. Nice footage of Baden Baden, Frauenfeld, Mauritius and Ovrevoll as well as Bad Harzburg, though no further lake races.

Thanks for the link to the video.I’ve never seen anything like that. It looks a bit like a mixture of our chasing, eventing and cross country!

And thanks graysonscolumn, I shall have to check out Youtube a bit more often.

Is that not dangerous for horses just to be plunging into water?
They all look so nice soaked in water in the sun shine, look like they love it.
