Its all good fun and for a good cause.
Boy some of you lot are right miserable gits
February 13, 2010 at 13:15 #276073Good post Marb…
February 13, 2010 at 13:26 #276078Presumably the fact that it was Mr Wilson who first mentioned the modernisation of racing in this discussion – which was bound to provoke a response – does not need to be pointed out.
The more I read his post of 01:27 on 13 Feb, the more I realise that it might have been satirical and all part of "the fun".

BTW, I edited this post for the simple reason that what O wrote was not true. I may disagree with Prufrock on this but he is not a boring ****
February 13, 2010 at 13:43 #276086Now, now, don’t go getting yourself banned.
February 15, 2010 at 10:39 #276794You want a way of making racing appeal to the masses? Trying banning Big Mac from appearing on any non-racing programme for a start…
Yet, for better of for worse, who out of all the song’s performers do you think TV and radio stations are going to be on the phone to first when the promotion campaign steps up a gear?
Exactly.
The execution of the Cheltenham song is far less the problem than the fact that there appears to be nobody within the sport’s assembled ranks who could be the figurehead of a more transcendentally appealing product.
…Unless Gina Bryce has secretly teamed up with Dappy out of N-Dubz on a track provisionally entitled "Luv For Da Gold Cup", and we just haven’t been informed yet.

Now Gina and Tulisa from N-Dubz – proper double act
February 15, 2010 at 10:56 #276800Nicky Henderson, Paul Nicholls, Andy Stewart, Thommo and Mottershead
I misread that as "Nicky Henderson, Paul Nicholls, Andy Stewart, Thommo and Motorhead".
That would be the collaboration to end them all.

February 15, 2010 at 12:30 #276834I don’t think I’d want to buy the song itself but I do like this video. I’m relieved that there is a proper main singer, that the celebs only get to butcher one word and that we don’t have to watch them for the duration of the video. However I do like their enthusiasm and the fact that so many of the top stars turned up. As I love the song itself and the exciting race footage I’d be happy to download the video to my ipod if this is an option.

A behind the scenes sort of thing.

Lesson for all forum posters. I was going to disagree with this post in no uncertain terms. Then I read it properly – the word "non" being key – and now I think I agree with it.
I can’t bear to listen to this record for many reasons mentioned in the thread, but I will buy it and hope it makes loads of money for a good cause.

Thanks.
I find I cannot stop myself from taking contrary opinions. I have done it since I can remember, often instinctively rather than consciously, and it has got me into a lot of trouble over the years.
Enough people were backing me up on this one that I was considering defecting to the other side in any case.
It’s a reasonable song – though I still find the video to be toe-curling – and I wish it, and you, well.
February 15, 2010 at 14:16 #276862Isn’t that Bobby Ewing at 2:42?
Have to say though, that video sent my cringe gland pumping all kinds of crap in my bloodstream. Most of the singers look rather embarrassed. Still, it could do well if it’s entered in the Eurovision Song Contest!
February 17, 2010 at 16:43 #277411I likes it, hence the bump.
