Pulled up and dismounted at Newmarket tonight. Confirmed fatal injury. R.I.P.
May 22, 2024 at 22:53 #1695201Such a beautiful looking horse with a distinctive big white blaze I was there last November when he won the final race of the final meeting on the Rowley Mile.
Adored by his owner, his wife and young family and all who cared for him, this would have been a devasting blow for all of them.
Just five years old he didn’t deserve this but he was loved and cared for in his short life which is more than some horses could ever dream of. Having said that it’s still hurts to see his name here.
RIP handsome boy and run free.
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...May 23, 2024 at 12:39 #1695234Thanks for the reminder Jac, I actually backed him in that race in 2023. The stable was having a great run from late summer till mid-autumn last year. It certainly is a very cruel blow for connections.
I was just wondering if a track like Newmarket can stand three consecutive racedays on turf. Don’t you think that on the 3rd day the ground could be a bit firmer than on the first two days? I mean there could be less grass and maybe more dirt, if you know what I mean. Probably the turf needs 2-3 weeks to recover after so much racing.Rest in peace Dirtyoldtown
May 23, 2024 at 14:38 #1695250Yes agreed Ruby but they do have two tracks, far and near side not sure which was used last weekend.
I do know that it was the firmest ground that he had ever encountered on Sunday as his win last November was on heavy ground..real shame. 💔Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...May 23, 2024 at 15:32 #1695258Thanks for the info, Jac.
