    Details of Transferred York Races

    • The Juddmonte International Stakes to be run at Newmarket on Saturday
    • Newbury, Goodwood and Newmarket to stage other races
    • All transferred races to be broadcast live on Channel 4
    • All Jockey Declarations for Friday races to be pushed back by 24 Hours

Following the abandonment of the York Ebor Meeting, the British Horseracing Authority has approved the transfer of all of the Group 1 and two of the Group 2 races along with the Ebor Handicap and the DBS £300000 St Leger Yearling Stakes.

The following races will be transferred to Newbury on Friday, August 22nd:

Race No 46567 THE IRISH THOROUGHBRED MARKETING GIMCRACK STAKES (CLASS 1) (Group 2)
Race No 46568 THE totesport NEWBURGH STAKES (CLASS 2 HERITAGE
HANDICAP) (Formerly the totesport Ebor Stakes)

The following races will be transferred to Newmarket on Friday, August 22nd:

Race No 49492 THE COOLMORE NUNTHORPE STAKES (CLASS 1) (Group 1)
Race No 49491 THE DARLEY YORKSHIRE OAKS (CLASS 1) (Group 1)
Race No 46471 THE DBS £300000 ST LEGER YEARLING STAKES (CLASS 2)

The following races will be transferred to Newmarket on Saturday, August 23rd:

Race No 46598 THE JUDDMONTE INTERNATIONAL STAKES (CLASS 1)
    (Group 1)

The following race will be transferred to Goodwood on Saturday, August 23rd:

Race No 46648 THE LADBROKES GREAT VOLTIGEUR STAKES (CLASS 1) (Group 2)

Note: Race numbers have been revised, with the exception of the DBS £300000 St Leger Yearling Stakes (Class 2).

All race values have been revised and all horses confirmed at the 6-day stage, including supplementary entries, will be required to be declared at the 24-hour stage. As such, all stakes paid heretofore will be re-funded and a single stake will be payable upon declaration. The only exception to this will be The DBS £300000 St Leger Yearling Stakes (Class 2), whose final declarations will stand. None of the other races originally scheduled at the York Ebor Meeting will be transferred.

With the addition of the races to the cards at Newmarket on Friday and Saturday, none of the maiden races will be permitted to divide.

The Newburgh Stakes, the new name for the transferred Ebor Stakes, will now be run over a distance of one mile, five furlongs about 61 yards at Newbury. Therefore, the three-years-old will receive 1lb less from older horses, resulting in revised weights being issued. All other races will be run over corresponding distances.

For all Flat races being run on Friday, August 22nd, the deadline for declaration of jockeys will be deferred until 1.00pm on Thursday, August 21st to allow for revised plans. The deadline for declaration of jockeys for all Flat races run on Saturday, August 23rd will remain at 1.00pm on Thursday, August 21st, except for the Juddmonte International and Ladbrokes Great Voltigeur, for which a deadline of 1.00pm on Friday, August 22nd will apply.

Due to the increased demands on stabling at Newmarket, emergency stabling has been arranged with Tattersalls. Trainers will be contacted directly by Newmarket with revised arrangements where required. No overnight stabling will be permitted at Newmarket on Friday evening, unless by prior arrangement with the racecourse.

The revisions to race conditions and running order will be as follows:

    Thanks Paul!

Just to be a pain, there is also an Arabian Race ‘The Royal Cavalry Of Oman Premier Handicap Stakes’ over a mile at the start of the Newbury card on Friday.

Bumper days of racing to come!

Yes agreed, very good work. However for many people up North this is the North race meeting of the year where quality racing can be seen. It’s a shame they couldn’t keep at least one up here, possibly transferred to Doncaster.

I’m not sure if I’m right on this, but the re-scheduled Ebor replacement race seems to be over a slightly different distance (1m 5f 61yds, rather than 1m 6f Ebor distance). Can anyone confirm?

I’m also pleased to see some of the races have been saved. It really was an exceptional set of circumstances.

That’s probably correct CL, as quite a few Newbury races are run over this ditsance (The Geoffrey Freer springs to mind).
The Ebor used to be run over 1m 5f 197yds, but I believe changed to the full 14f when they altered the course to accomodate ‘Royal Ascot’.

Yep excellent work to save the big races and a bumper couple of days coming up. Apparently AOB will only field runners in the Juddmonte and NA’s participation is to be confirmed. Lush Lashes it sems will run in The Yorkshire Oaks.

I’ll have to ask my brother to break my little finger so I don’t have to paint the spare room now!

Totally agree with you KS, I did e-mail Haydock and suggest that they try and get a couple of races to run on Sprint Cup day but they sadly wont be doing which is a shame as it would have been a good bonus.

Plus with your good self being in Darlington i bet you were praying for the Group races to be run at Redcar or Newcastle too.

I am throughly anoyed for two reasons.
Non of the races are being run on the same course so fans cannot even have a subistute ebor festival, which i think is madness as any track worth its salt would be begging too hold it.

Too is that all the races are being run in the south which means that ebemn those with tickets are paying double for a poorer product. We have Doncaster and Newcastle, all in the North and all on the east coat mainline, so out london friends could come up.

How can you run the International at newmarket whose track is nothing like York, same comments on goodwood.

What are Newmarket going too do, get the earth movers and level the course>?

Whast Yorks respeonse too its city and is people, why not go out and do a swop deal for an couple of group ones in the autumn , say the champion and the dewhurst, which would have helped its traders recoup their losses and sent its fans home happy, no it says it cannot because its habving drainage wiork done. Talk about shutting the stable after the horse and pissed and now shagging your nieghbours mares.

    I am hopping mad.

Had the whole meeting been moved too one course i would have goine, but as they have broken it down for scrap who can I or any one else planning too go.

As for the drainage, get a digger and a a bloody big, then pump the water that collects in it back in the river..
Yorks track management are a bunch idiots, I for one would no qualms about seeking them all sacked. The rain isnt their fault, but too not prodivde their local customer with a replacement fixtue of the same quality is not on. I have been too york as an outside cater, a fan and an owner. Right now
