I am not sure I believe Chapman. Would ITV really want racing in Saturday evening prime time?

The Irish Derby was run on a Saturday evening once or twice but did not really work.

6:30 would be pushing it as it would only take a minor disturbance from the boys and girls in pink to delay it 20 minutes or so and the knock on of slowly going down to post etc
Before you know it Britain’s got Talent would be starting up before they hit tattenham corner

Sat here watching the lead-up to the Derby before I’ve even had my lunch, it brings home just how shoddily the great race is being treated and how little confidence racing has in its product now.

The move to 1:30 is almost as bad as the fireworks before the start in 2022. I dread to think what next year will bring!

Did Johnny Murtagh swear at the end of The Derby or is it my hearing?

‘I dread to think what next year will bring!’

A return to its normal slot and little discernible difference in attendance, viewing figures or interest from the general public.

“I am not sure I believe Chapman. Would ITV really want racing in Saturday evening prime time?”

As Chapman works for them, doubt he would say it if it wasn’t true.

As it would be replacing a Chase Celebrity Special repeat I’m sure even ITV would have accepted
    that as a one off.

British racing must be making a hell of a lot of money from The World Pool, where is it all?
Any other country schedules it’s racing to fit in with the rest of the world rather than the other way round?

I’m 99.9% positive he said the ‘F’ word.

Whoops – just hope nobody complains to ITV otherwise, he won’t be invited back.

    They tried.

“A protester was tackled by police after entering the track at the Derby Festival at Epsom racecourse.

The man managed to jump the fence during the running of the Derby, while another woman was stopped from climbing the fence, but the race was unaffected.

It followed threats from activist group Animal Rising that they would disrupt the prestigious race.

Police had earlier arrested 19 people “in connection with planned criminal disruption” before Saturday’s meet.

Animal Rising shared a video on Twitter of the protester who entered the track being detained.

Racegoers could be heard jeering the protesters and shouting abuse.

Last week, race organisers the Jockey Club won a High Court injunction to prevent animal rights protesters disrupting the event.

The injunction banned people from entering or throwing objects on the race track, entering the parade ring and any other action that could disrupt proceedings.

Anyone breaching the injunction could face proceedings for contempt of court.”

Hope that Animal Rising gets landed with the costs for all the security needed to stop their pranks.
