I’ve seemed to have talked myself into organising a coach trip to the Epsom Derby (June 2nd).
Current thinking is to meet at a hotel within a 20 mile radius of Epsom. Transported by Coach, get to “The Hillâ€ÂÂ
January 31, 2007 at 08:13 #37431Reigate Hills Hotel is not that bad its a quarter of a mile or so from the M25 which is less than 5 miles from the track.
A better one is Surrey Hills but that a little further away.
google these up should show u details & tarrif. This is still within 10 miles from the course.
rgds
January 31, 2007 at 11:01 #37432Can frank the Reigate Hills form
January 31, 2007 at 12:45 #37433I would give the Derby a miss this year due to redevelopment of the older grandstands the place will be like a building site
January 31, 2007 at 13:07 #37434Bluechariot
We’re planning to stake our claim on the hill along with the rest of the masses. Can you enlighten me regarding the building changes and the effect this will have on our day out?
January 31, 2007 at 14:21 #37435I am not sure how it will affect the hill and if numbers will be generally down, could be worse in 2008.
Here are some key dates

January 31, 2007 at 21:05 #37436I’ll be on The Hill as usual. If it’s good weather then it’s drinks and picnic at about the 10 furlong start before wandering off later in the afternoon to end up buying a five foot tall porcelain greyhound as the wine kicks in.
I love The Hill on Derby Day. Admittedly one can’t see much racing other than the starts but it’s a fun day out.
February 1, 2007 at 10:23 #37437I went to the Reigate Hills when the Wimbledon Greyhound owners had a Xmas party.
I went to the Surrey Hills when my former boss sold his company to Hays for 92 million so he paid.;)
Beware of the clairvoyant when she reads your girlfriends palm she offers a money back scheme if shes wrong when predicting the sex of any future babies.
She may tell her its going to be a boy and give you and envelope which she tells you to open at a later date and that will have the word girl written on it.
Look out for Lester Piggot as the year Lamtarra won he was the ‘meeter and greeter’ outside the vodafone tent.
You can actually see the top of the grandstand from the M25. So that puts into context the location of the track.
Its between Reigate juction 8 and Dorking/Chessington juct 9
