Does anyone know if the gossip going around is true?
October 29, 2007 at 13:31 #122116The market on Betfair would normally be the best place to look in this situation and the horse’s price is solid with money still queuing up to back him.
October 29, 2007 at 13:34 #122117might be out of Charlie Hall
From RP
As a result of information from someone walking the track for him, the champion trainer said he was likely to re-route his top-flight chaser Denman from Wetherby’s prestigious contest to an intermediate chase at Carlisle 24 hours later.
October 29, 2007 at 13:42 #122120He’s certainly not entered in the Charlie Hall or in the intermediate chase at Carlisle according to the racing post entry lists.
October 29, 2007 at 14:01 #122122Any coincedence this comes a day after Kauto Star flops at Aintree? Lump on Star De Mohasion [especially for the King George] I say!
I didn’t see Kauto ‘ flop ‘ I thought he ran with resolution to finish as close as he did to a horse carrying one stone less then him.
October 29, 2007 at 15:16 #122132You know it’s amazing how these rumours get started. One person vaguely states on one forum that they think Denman got cast in his box "or something" and they think they’ve heard he might be out for the season (that would be one hell of a "getting cast", I can tell you) which warrants a thread being opened on another forum by which time the initial incredibly vague mixed comment becomes "is the gossip true" or "are the rumours true"? Is it really "rumours" or "gossip"?? Or is it an over-reaction to an exceptionally vague comment in which no information with any credence was passed on?
October 29, 2007 at 15:29 #122133Denman is absolutely fine according to Paul Nicholls – who spoke to ATR (not on air) less than 2 hours ago.
He is simply waiting for softer ground, and with no guarantee of softer ground at the weeked, connections are just being patient by all accounts.

I’ve just seen Penry the Mild-Mannered Janitor smile and say, "could be!!!"

October 29, 2007 at 16:25 #122145As far as I know the poster on TH never said anything about Denman getting cast in his box
October 29, 2007 at 17:52 #122160I wasn’t disappointed with him and I haven’t said that. My post praises him for running on bravely.
October 29, 2007 at 21:13 #122197Most people’s concerns about KS are to do with the way he travelled – i.e. hitting a flat spot in the middle of the race and having to be urged along the rest of the way. For a horse that won the Tingle Creek, that wasnt a great sign.
Still he should improve no end and if he had travelled alongside Monet’s up to the last and faded, we would all be lauding the run.
October 29, 2007 at 22:12 #122208I think KS wants 3 miles…
October 29, 2007 at 22:23 #122210Is there a chance that Kauto Star could be getting a little ‘fed up’ with racing?
It would be a great shame but for last season which already cemented his place in legend-dom.
At his age, Kauto should theoretically still be improving as even French breds can race beyond seven. But it is a little unnerving to see a horse who travels as well as any before him slack off after a mile on the undemanding Mildmay course.

I must say that this crossed my mind as well.
Hope we’re wrong, but it bears watching and certainly wouldn’t be taking a short price next time even though he will be fitter.November 3, 2007 at 10:50 #122785I am quite eager to see Kauto Star’s next race.
I really hope he goes on to win his next race to get a little bit of confidence back into the public and possibly, a bit more confidence back into himself.
