From a betting perspective this is my favourite day.

Yeh some lovely prices and not many fell by the wayside today (Finians Oscar @ 14’s the standout, plus I backed Tombstone for the County as I wasn’t sure when I took 22’s as to where he would go), but its certainly not all rosy as I had quite a few ante post bets fall by the wayside in recent weeks so will hopefully today will more than make up for it.

Bumper – Carter McKay 5/1, Cause Tourjours 8/1 and Fayonagh 12/1Day didn’t start well again for me, saver Neon Wolf didn’t get the run of the race and got touched off. Then saver Might Bite just got his concentration together to get back up and beat my main bet Whisper. Tombstone got buried early. Gods Own usually jumps well, made two uncharcteristic bad blunders and yet had every chance at the last. Thought Fayonagh‘s chance was blown at the start, gave up on her. Just thinking I was going to have a losing day when the mare’s head came in to the picture and flew!
Value Is EverythingA very dramatic day! Well done with Fayonagh. Would it be fair to say results in general for punters have been going the same difficult way over the first two days as they have since xmas? Am 164.86 up so far but feel I’m just trying to defend the profit in the second half with the pressure of less time to study more runners/races, doing so in an abbreviated form to usual and struggling to grab 5 hours sleep per night!
Main thought at halfway: tempus horribilis for Mullins as the pendulum swings firmly towards Elliott. Do you think Willie will re-lower his training fees :)
And second thought: what a mare for Mark Walsh who will now miss the rest of the meeting. I haven’t seen enough of him riding to have an opinion but he had a rare and golden opportunity which has been met only with falls and disappointments.
