Woow green but very good! well done new approach first group one winner
September 15, 2012 at 17:53 #413294I missed the live running because the insufferable commercials on ATR made me switch the channels and I forgot to switch back for the race

He didn’t have a great deal to beat but he beat them as well as he was entitled to and will be a very interesting prospect when he grows up a bit.
September 15, 2012 at 19:43 #413316Don’t think he beat anything of note today, but he’s definitely a serious prospect. Like many, never really liked 2 year olds who make their debut as early as March, but definitely can’t ignore this one. Hope they keep him with Bolger though.
September 15, 2012 at 20:34 #413323Wondering why Ladbrokes are offering the standout 8/1 as this horse looks the standout 2yo – do they know he is leaving Bolger? Ashdan plenty of potential the other day and certainly looks a better prospect than Dundonnell who looked anything but straightforward in the Champagne.
September 16, 2012 at 06:35 #413366It has been stated somewhere that he goes to the Godolphin barns next year.
September 16, 2012 at 12:14 #413398yes dawn approach is a tough horse indeed, just like his sire. his weakness however maybe that he doesn’t travel that well through his races, that he doesn’t have push-button accelaration.
as for the horses that won at the doncaster festival, by far the most promising for me is certify. I don’t rate ashdan’s form much, the time was pretty slow, and ditto the champagne stakes yesterday (although if there is one to come out of that it’s surely the 2nd, who would hardly have been suited by the very slow gallop)
September 16, 2012 at 20:37 #413460I like Dawn Approach very much, looked a little green, wandered slightly which is always a worry as it can be an indication of a physical issue, but it was only slight and he can certainly motor.
Looks tailor-made for the Guineas and 8/1 would be extremely attractive… IF you knew he wasn’t going to be messed about with in the meantime. And by that I mean switching yards/countries/climates.
September 16, 2012 at 20:53 #413463Looks like a horse who has to have a blistering fast pace , he will get that in 2000G , for sure , but he might be vulnerable in a tactical crawl
If he goes to Dubai , he will go back 10 lbs , thats the problem , if he stays with Jim Bolger , I would be having my first anti post bet for 30 years

Looks a top drawer 2yo in the right yard.
Is he going for the Dewhurst or the RP? The one to beat in either.
As for the inevitable Godolphin switch – more chance to end in disaster than if kept with the Bolgers, thats for sure.
September 16, 2012 at 21:57 #413475I think they are favouring a tilt at the Dewhurst PC. A ‘happy hunting ground’ says Jim Bolger
October 13, 2012 at 14:11 #22806Sheikh Mohamed said Dawn Approach is staying with Jim Bolger Next Year? What Good News that is <!– s:D –>
<!– s:D –>October 13, 2012 at 14:15 #416555Yes seemed a bit unsure at first and I wonder whether it was not decided until that point, but good news
October 13, 2012 at 16:41 #416587That’s the first time I’ve ever seen the Sheikh a bit stuck for an answer! Good news for Jim Bolger though. I read an article this morning that said Jim still owns 49% of Dawn Approach.

Dunno, if you ask him when he’s going to offer basic human rights and long-promised union recognition to the tens of thousands of slave – sorry, ‘guest’ – workers in his gold-plated fiefdom he stutters a bit.

He did seem puzzled for a couple of seconds. I wondered if he didn’t quite understand and an off-camera lackey quickly translated. Great news though, I thought when the horse appeared in blue colours that was indicating he would be moving at the end of the season.
