This probably should posted in Lounge forum but as more people probably read this. It relates to David’s column today, not sure if he posts here or reads the threads, but anyway.
All the very best wishes for the treatment ahead.
As you say- don’t take it lying down.
August 14, 2008 at 12:31 #176986Totally agree – and the story told as only David Ashworth can.
Here’s hoping it has been caught soon enough and all the best for a speedy recovery.
August 15, 2008 at 12:28 #177067I did read David Ashworth’s column
who wrote some excellent splash
about mixing personal things in with his
standard writing.
Heart warming and very funny thoughts.
I wish you all the best.David
and fully admire your don’t take it lying down attitude.August 15, 2008 at 13:50 #8638I was saddened to learn that David Ashforth has prostate cancer, as mentioned in his remarkably cheery column yesterday.
He is a class apart from most other racing journalists, imo, and seems to be a thoroughly nice bloke as well.
I am sure I am not alone in wishing him all the very best.

August 15, 2008 at 13:57 #177076Sad news, but I’m sure his cheery personality will aid him terrificly. I wish him well.

There is a thread in the lounge about David.

August 15, 2008 at 16:25 #177088I sincerely hope he makes a speedy and full recovery.
Best wishes to you David if you are looking in, as I know you do from time to time.
August 15, 2008 at 17:10 #177090good luck David,
fortunately most cases no longer terminal,
big odds on several years with treatment
August 15, 2008 at 17:33 #177092Met David Ashforth 2 years ago at Uttoxeter at a pre Christmas meeting on the final day of his Grab a Grand for Christmas Challenge which he does.
Saw the race with him in the stand which was a low grade hurdle which Polar Gunner won and duly got him his Grand up.
Straight away i shook his hand and congratulated him and he was very pleased to have done it and said thank you.
A very good writer and journalist, and like his comrade Ian Carnaby is a huge lover of Brighton races which has a huge place in his heart.
Good luck David you are a true gent of the game.
August 15, 2008 at 17:38 #177094Aye, all the very best David
August 15, 2008 at 19:55 #177097Who is he and what happened?

I hope he gets well soon
August 15, 2008 at 20:11 #177098Mods- any chance we can merge these two threads?
August 15, 2008 at 21:16 #177101Who is he and what happened?
Long time columnist on the Racing Post/Sporting Life and a master of the off-beat, self-deprecatory, reflective, somewhat melencholic essay. Much like his good pal Ian Carnaby.
Apparently he’s been diagnosed with prostate cancer
August 15, 2008 at 21:23 #177103Oh dear poor thing
August 15, 2008 at 21:47 #177105All the best David, and wishing a speedy recovery for you.
A genuinely nice person.August 17, 2008 at 08:48 #177190Wish him all the best and a speedy recovery.
