Agree Oosthuizen at 25/1 at St Andrews where he has won and tied for first in the last two Opens is a big price. However, I just worry about the mental scar tissue he is carrying. He keeps on finishing second or third in majors but has not got over the line since 2010, when he won in a canter.

Sooner or later you have to ask if he has a mental or technical flaw in his game. To my mind, he should have won the Open last year but he clearly found it a struggle from the back nine on Saturday. His swing looked less assured and I just wonder if he worried himself out of it.

25/1 looks great each way but I will be pleasantly surprised if he wins.

Hi Darren I backed Elvis as well in Australia! Listened to the Steve Palmer podcast and he mentioned what you said – about the Aussie wonderkid having the course designer as his caddy this week haha! Couldn’t say no to jumping on that, like a handicap plot job in the horses!

I’ve also put small ew savers on Cam Davis and Kevin Kisner at the Sony.

Best of luck everyone this week!

    Sony Open

Sungjae Im 18/1 (boosted from 16s PP) (1st round leader market 33/1)

He’s super consistant, T8 last time out in the Sentry, but I got money
back with his 1st round place. He won’t be far away this week either

Corey Conners 25/1 (40/1 1st round leader market)

I agree with Darren here, Conners plays well round here, 3rd
in 2019 and T12 2020. He should go well

Kevin Kisner 33/1 (45/1 1st round leader market)

He can be a bit hot and cold, but three top 5 finishes
here since 2015 bodes well for a good week.

Harry Higgs 175/1 (100/1 1st round leader market)

I love the way Harry plays golf, he’s in the John Daly
mould he goes for everthing. Problem is that can cause
big problems, but on a good day he can hit some really
low rounds. An outside chance and worth a look in the
    1st round betting.

Good luck this week chaps and nice too see you in here

    SONY OPEN
    J DAHMEN 66/1
    T GOOCH 25/1
    S CINK 80/1
    H SWAFFORD 125/1
    C YOUNG 200/1

Looks like we have a fair spread in this so hopefully we can nab the winner after last weeks solid performances without getting the winner

    Bloody Sungjae :negative:

Ancer of interest next week, placed at next weeks tournament the last 2 years, Cantlay too did well there last year and played well last week you’d assume he’d spend most of this week practicing for it!

You’re right Ben, Sungjae, whos normally so consistent, was pants
I think that double bogey at the 2nd on the 1st day got to him.
Lucky to get away with par that day, he has to birdie the last 2.
When guys are hitting 8 and 9 under, you’re pretty much fecked

    Bets for Golf this week

    American express

    JON RAHM 13/2

A winner here before and Farmers insurance open be next week. So every chance of 2 wins in a row. Was 2nd at Sentry tournament of champions. And will be the man to beat

    SUNGAE IM 22/1

Been 10th here before a MC last week at Sony open but I expect him to bounce back from that
    And go close here

    DOUG GHIM 125/1

Was 5th here last year and while this 1st tournament of the season for him this year ge can shake the rust off

    FRANCESCO MOLINARI 150/1

His best performance of 2021 was here when was 8th. So a return here got enough experience around here and not to be under estimated

    AUSTIN COOK 400/1

Don’t be afraid to be on big prices when Adam Long won here was 1000/1 and this guy could of won here when Rahm won here he fell away in round 4.

    THOMAS PIETERS 35/1

He would rather be at other course in Abu Dhabi but he still got a chance here a danger in middle East

    ADRI ARNAUS 66/1

He lives in Dubai and love playing in tournaments in the gulf and can make a impact here

    VICTOR PEREZ 100/1

Has strong form in the middle East and won the Alfred dunhill links because this new course a links course to so this course a similar layout

    JORDAN SMITH 100/1

Loves playing in the middle East might be hard for him to win in this company but don’t be surprised if he go well.

    Abu Dhabi Championship

    Viktor Hovland 10/1 (22/1 1st round leader)

He’s stepping up the way I always hoped he would. Finished on the
PGA Tour with back to back wins in at Mayakoba and the Hero World
Challenge. Crossed the pond after a month off and blew off the cobwebs
at the Sentry Tournament with a reasonable T30 which would have been a
lot better without a poor 3rd round. Along with Rory and Morikawa he’s
the class in the field and on his day he can beat anyone.

Sam Horsfield 66/1 (60/1 1st round leader market)

He’s coming back after a month off, so I hope he’s not being too merry over
Christmas and New Year. A couple of wins in 2000 and although he couldn’t
add to that last year he did have 6 under 10 results. He was 9th on his
last start, but should have been a lot closer without a very loose last
round. If he’s ready for this he’s over priced.

Rafa Cabrera Bello 80/1 (60/1 1st round leader market)

You take your chances with Rafa, he can be brilliant as when winning
the Open De Espana at the tail end of last year, and he did well here
last year finishing 4th. If he’s in the mood he’s not out of this and
worth the risk at the 80/1, or 100/1 if you want to settle for 5 places
    with Bet365.

I’ll get round to the American Express a bit later Darren :good:

Sorry Darren I’ve had a lot on my plate today, but I did
punt 3 earlier on. I don’t like these 3 course tournaments,
it kind of screws up the 1st round leader bets so I left that
alone. I’ll just name my 3 as I’m still running around.

    Scottie Scheffler 20/1

Sungjae Im 22/1 (I’m amazed he missed a cut a cut last week

    Abraham Ancer 33/1

Hope we get some good luck this week, I only had Kisner E/W, he finished T3.
Hovland going well at Abu Dhabi. I would have taken 8 under any time as 1st
round leader but Scott Jamieson played the round of his life to get to 9 under
    It’s so unfair

I’ve added another in the America Express, just for the hell
of it, my old pal Sebastian Munoz 100/1. I’ve lost a place as
the tournament has started, Paddy Power were going 7 places rather
than the 8 before the start. He tees off in 20 mins (10.30)
I’ve just realised that 4 of my guys all kick off at 10.30,
    how weird is that

I’ve mentioned Harry higgs a few times, I just like the guy. As I’ve said
before, he’s like a John Daly type. Laughs his way round a course and
doesn’t shirk from taking chances to his cost at times. Well I saw he was
10 under, 4 off the lead but with about 20 ahead of him. I took the 100/1
    4 places Bet365.

I was following it on my Pc and he’s picked up a birdie at the 3rd, but Bet365
hadn’t changed his odds, so I took the 100/1 again. The price changed on their
screen to 66s just after I pressed the button, I expected it to come back with
the bet at 66/1 or say the price had changed, but it came through okay so I’ve
got him twice at 100/1 :good:
