Anyone going to the dante or musidora next week. Just been looking at the cards and after a brilliant week at chester I want to be at york next week, just to see Kingdom of Naples run all over Twice Over, if nothing else. <!– s8) –>
<!– s8) –>The proposed field for the musidora looks amazing too, with lush lahes, moonstone Dar Re Mi and much more lining up.
May 9, 2008 at 19:14 #162531As a Haydock memeber i have the Wednesday as a reciprocal but have used a few days up already so will be slugging it out at work until September when i hope to visit Goodwood.
Anyday of the Dante meeting is worth going to as it is the racing is far classier than the Chester meeting and the entry is much cheaper plus you can also see the races.
May 9, 2008 at 23:46 #162553Queen Of The Night in the Musidora noms?
May 10, 2008 at 00:41 #162559Im not too sure myles as cant get onto the racing post site at present, I know O’brien mentioned Queen Of The Night as a possible dark horse for the Oaks on his stable tour, however it would certainly appear that Moonstone is the stable nummer one (which is disappointing as Im on Kitty Matcham), she was smashed all over the place in the Oaks market ahead of her entry in the Musidora with no real mention of her in the papers.
It is pretty interesting that they were backing moonstone on wednesday when sail crossed the line in the Cheshire Oaks, and it is interesting also that sail has had virtually no money in the market before or after her win, they must hold Moonstone in some very high regard.
O’brien, like Bolger and possibly a few others have their horses spread between the Musidora and the Blue Wind Stakes at Naas (both races this wednesday). The blue wind can be a decent race also as it is open to the older fillies also.
I didn’t notice queen of the night but then I wasnt watching that closely for her at the time I looked Myles, she may be in there.
May 10, 2008 at 00:51 #162560I keep her in very high regard considering her debut performance was one where she clearly stayed on with vigour and great determination. From a debut run she can only improve tenfold from there.
Pedigree may have her inclined to run over a Yorkshire Oaks distance though, instead of the 1m4f but we wait and see what unfolds.
Which filly is the relation to Yesterday and umm … I forget the others and RP is being a little rat ATM.
May 10, 2008 at 01:33 #162561O’briens better ones are improving at phenomenal rates at the minute. Macarthur and Sail have been very impressive this week, and it will be interesting to see what he brings out over the coming week.
I strongly suspect the derby and Oaks winner will be running at york this week, and so the excitement continues.

Queen Of The Night in the Musidora noms?
Queen of the Night is not in the Musidora, myles. Agree her debut was very promising. As Falbrav’s half sister, she did well on soft (he loved it fast) and made up lots of ground in a 10-furlong race. Would seem to bode well for future runs at 12f – which btw is the Yorkshire Oaks distance as well. Epsom seems unlikely now since she hasn’t been entered into any of the trials. Pretty Polly/Irish Oaks?
Hold Me Love Me (Sadler’s Wells/Jude by Darshaan) is the full sister of Quarter Moon, Yesterday and All My Loving. She’s shown nothing in 3 runs thus far and is entered in an apprentice handicap next week.
Even before her debut, Moonstone has been my hope for the Oaks but from sentiment rather than anything else – I loved her half sister (or is it 3/4?) L’Ancresse, as I’ve written on another thread. I also have high hopes for Dalakhani’s success at stud.
The Musidora field looks worthy of an Oaks with Dar Re Mi, Moonstone, Prima Luce, Lush Lashes and Cape Amber.
May 10, 2008 at 11:03 #162578Thankyou sir re: Hold Me Love Me. I guess we will leave it alone until it shows something.
Queen Of The Night may simply not be a Juddmonte Oaks horse. Which is no issue. Like has been said, Pretty Polly/Irish Oaks always possibilities on the agenda – or one for the Ribblesdale?
May 10, 2008 at 21:23 #162651No sir, Miles, a little knowledge of ancient Egyptian history tells you that Nefertiti was a lady!
